So this is a bit of a gamers rant but its in this forum because I think its more relevant.

So to get to the point, any other gamers noticing how bad gaming is getting. In 2017 we had the disaster that was Mass Effect, we had EA's loot boxes and I honestly think that other than Horizon Zero Dawn we didn't really get any truly amazing games. Now sure, so far 2018 looks like its going to be a epic year for gamers (ok for ps4 users, sorry xbox) but I still feel its all getting rather stale.

I am fed up of paying for half a game only for the rest of it to come out in a slow drip of DLC (looking at you destiny 2), I am fed up of loot boxes, I am fed up of playing the same assassins creed, Call of Duty, need for speed, Fifa or whatever else every year all for the sweet cost of about £50 a shot. Then after forking out the cash I have to then pay yet more money to get the full experience. Recently I started playing a game called HellBlade, its a ps4 exclusive (sorry xbox) and its original, it cost half of what a AAA game does and feels like a full experience without paying through the nose for DLC.

I love shooters, was a massive fan of Tom Clancy games back in they day, so what the hell was that mess that was Ghost Recon wildlands? I want a new splinter-cell, I actually wanted to play Rainbow Six patriots. Instead I get this crap.

Why the hell do I get charged £50 for a new Fifa every year (ok I don't get it every year) when a patch, not even a DLC, could probably suffice. it could be done on a two or three year cycle, that way each game would get a real chance to be more fully developed and be noticeably different. Its just greed, more greed from EA who make about $4 billion each year, I am sure they could afford to actually make a decent game with out DLC and the same rehash every year.

At least naughtydog (sorry xbox) and Rockstar actually take the time to put out decent compete games with out all that crap but its only a matter of time before they follow suit.

I guess part of it is nostalgia but when I look back at big games, like Mass effect then see the crap that was andromeda or when I play Need For Speed most wanted then see that mobile game for console called payback I just fee like games these days are just about making money and nothing else. Sure I get it, folk need money to support families, if games didn't make money then they wouldn't make games but current business practices are turning gamers off towards indy titles. For example I will no buy another EA title unless they change their shoddy business practices of selling half a game at launch. Which is a shame because I enjoy Fifa, Need for speed, and so on. Thats not even getting into the way they as a publisher are treating developers by shutting down and mothballing studio after studio.

An another thing while am on a role, you might have noticed a few apologies to Xbox in this post. Wha the hell is going on there, I own a xbox and I like the system so this isn't some ps4 fan boy rant, but why so few decent exclusives. Why release a amazing bit of kit like the Xbox one X and have no exclusive games for it. I am not interested in cup-head!!!

meh might just be me but I am sure other gamers will see what I am getting at.

I feel your pain and I sometimes wonder if its the actual games or if it's me? Could be a combo of both. I've been a semi-gamer for probably close to 30 years (I'm 38 now). The last 2 years I just can't get into the gaming like I used to. Maybe I've grown up or maybe the games are just not as intriguing because we've been there done that. 15 years ago you play a game and it's something totally new to you so you have so much fun in that game. That's what COD was for me. Then when Destiny came out, that was the first time I had played a game remotely close to that so that was #ing awesome. I'm not well versed in other games like RPG's, so anytime I play a game like that I like it at first and then I lose interest in it.

Ummm...I'm currently playing Mass Effect Andromeda...along with Destiny 2...and OverWatch Origen's...

I have to agree with your assessment...Destiny 2 was merely a reworked Destiny IMO...nothing really new...
Andromeda which I was playing last night before bed leaves a lot to be desired...

I was pleasantly surprised by TitanFall 2...with it's story mode...although the story mode could have been longer...

Frankly...although I'm a big Halo fan I thought Halo 5 left a lot to be desired...

...here's to this coming season and some better gaming...

I am surprised you didn't find a way to blame Trump and Trump voters for all this.

*sorry*

This won't end until people stop paying. That's the long and short of it. As long as people are buying these games and paying for microtransactions, then they will keep happening.

And stop getting suckered by pre-release hype.

Well, as long as people continue buying games that aren't complete, and continue to spend real money on digital items, I fear that this state of gaming is here to stay.

Micro transactions have ruined the gaming scene.

Titan fall 2 I thought was a really good game and initially they handled the whole DLC thing well but that didn't last, its now got loads of DLC stuff. I have not played it in a while but I think its pretty much pay to win now.

I also love halo, didn't even mind the last one that much, but for me xbox has 3 good exclusives, Halo, Gears and Forza Horizon but thats it.....

If you look at what PS4 has got this year alone its not even a race that xbox has a horse in

Ummm...I have to agree...in game purchases do tend to ruin a game for me...I mean...after shelling out $60.00 plus for a game I really have no stomach for in game purchasing...

(I do usually buy my games used at Gamestop though...always inspect the disc's before you buy)

I feel your pain. There have been a severe lack of games that I want to play lately. Was a huge fan of Destiny, and loved crucible and the raids, now with the glitches and awful loot system and micro transaction bs, I am totally done with it.

I have gone back to playing/creating new darksouls characters. Also, I hear that dark souls will be coming out for the new consoles in the coming year. Am excited.

Ummm...I'll have to check out the PS4 upcoming games...unfortunately...I have an Xbox1S...My daughter has a PS4 in her bedroom...guess I'll have to hang out in there and cry while she beats me on a fairly consistent basis...

Ah well...the perils of parenting...

As a member of the PC Master Race I can relate to crap games. I kept hearing everyone talk about Dark Souls III so I picked it up on steam, its a freaking port and I have to get a controller in order to play it with any accuracy. WTH!!!

I have found that a lot of the free to play games are better that the big $60 titles. Example "Deceit" fun multiplayer game with voice support.

It's been pretty well documented that the execs in power at EA don't believe in single player experience anymore. So I'd bet against just about anything from EA providing a good single player experience at this time. They've relegated that to a niche market. The game awards were full of digs at EA over their comments on it.

Well if Trump supporters would stop buying EA games this wouldn't be a problem!!!

Statistically speaking, since, as you guys like to point out, Hillary won the popular vote ... wouldn't there be more Hillary voters buying games?

The problem is though that its been very well documented (In "The Socialist Marxist Trump hater news letter") that Trump supporters only play games made by EA and other publishers who extort their fans through micro transactions.

Being a long-time fan of the DOOM/QUAKE franchise, I picked up Quake Champions (early access) when it was on sale for $20. I would have gotten more satisfaction if I had spent that $20 on parsley, cilantro, and a large bag of carrots for my rabbits.

It has the Quake atmosphere, some cool maps, and is kinda fun. The problem is that it takes 10-20 minutes to get into a match, the physics feel mushy, and the music isn't Speed Metal. No server browser? C'mon. They have incorporated loot-boxes and other crap, too. Some of the weapons are pointless. Bottom line, if I can't get into a match within 2 minutes I'm not going to waste my time.

I hope that if and when it is officially launched the servers will be populated and I can ignore the Overwatch imitations they've injected into it.

Actually, I haven't bought any major games since Mass Fail in Andromeda. I've bought some smaller games with less mass appeal and some indy games. Those have treated me fine because those publishers still know their fans are the most important thing.

I gave up on the The Sims franchise long ago, and I am done with EA. They killed off both Maxis and BioWare even though they keep the dead corpse of the name lumbering around like zombies.
