Although Starbucks has come under fire over the last few years by some political conservatives, I have always enjoyed this company's products. Their newest lineup includes drinks made with what they call "blonde espresso." It boasts a sweeter and slightly less intense profile than their signature espresso.

The lighter-roasted blend is being offered alongside the “Starbucks Signature” espresso blend for all the company’s espresso-based beverages, pitched as a “smooth and bright” alternative to the “bold and rich” profile of the long-running espresso blend.

The company’s signature blend is composed of washed and semi-washed coffees from Latin America and Asia Pacific, while the company says its lighter espresso is composed of fully washed coffees from Latin America and East Africa that offers notes of lemon, orange and caramel.

I am a fan of all their handcrafted espresso drinks, as well as their brewed Americano coffee drink. I tried the blonde espresso in two of my top picks, and thought it really added an interesting variation.

Anyone else try this yet?

Meh, I've always thought starbucks was OK. You should try Black Rifle Coffee Company. Their coffee taste much better.

I used to drink Starbuck's coffee daily when it wasn't so darn expensive. In fact, I used to buy my entire crew of 12 employees coffee for their morning breaks. Now, I only get a tall-iced-no whip-vanilla-mocha a couple times of year because I don't want to spend $5 for a beverage. I will say that they have a pretty good system for their drive-thru customers, even in long lines I rarely have had to wait an unreasonable amount of time.

Sounds racist to me... BAN IT!!!! Isn't that the typical knee-jerk reaction of the mainstream/"progressives" these days?

I don't like any of their blond roast coffee. It tastes like pisswater. I find their espresso's and americano's pretty disappointing. Plus they charge you $2.25 for hot water. A shot of espresso is $1.50 an americano is $3.75 for a medium Which is still one shot of espresso.

The only coffee of theirs I really like is the french roast, but the ones by my place have it so rarely. Also, there's too #ing many of them. There's 8 Starbucks within a 5 minute walk of my house. 3 of them are literally on the same block. There's two across the street from each other and one a bit further down on one side.

I haven't tried that drink, but I have felt over the last year or so they have changed their recipe. It's a good thing for me because I can't stand the new taste and save a lot of money.

Black Rifle is a bit expensive mail order, but I love their ads. Look 'em up. There are a lot more.

handcrafted

Sorry, pet peeve of mine when people attempt to apply grand sounding terms to everyday, non special topics. They follow a little recipe/procedure card behind the counter and assemble drinks... "handcrafted" is appropriate when discussing woodworking arts, hand knitted items, even hand tied flies, but if barista-ing is "handcrafting" then the waitress at IHOP who puts ice cubes in a glass and pours water over the ice just "handcrafted" you a glass of ice water.

I dislike Starbuck's coffee. They burn the hell out of their beans, IMO. I do, however, love their iced tea. Next time I'm there (and we go 3 or 4 times a week) maybe I'll try this new espresso.

See, now I'm rethinking this and may not, in fact, try this new espresso. I haven't got the background dug88 has in taste testing pisswater... in fact I have no clue what it tastes like, but I can only imagine it's unpleasant. This makes me a lot more likely to just stick with my iced tea, ordered with no water, no sweet.

Whats funny is I thought this post was going to be about somebody offended by the term blonde espresso...

Lol. Go ahead and pull the trigger!

It really is great coffee. Personally I like the CAF, Beyond Black, and Silencer Smooth the best.

They are a little pricy but I don't mind because of who they are and the quality.

Well rest assured, without going into too many details
, I do in fact have the background taste testing experience to be able to define the taste of pisswater and the resemblance of starbucks blond roast to some luke warm piss is uncanny.

Yeah there is no denying that, I have spent $5.25 there for the past several months pretty much daily and it does add up quick. It had actually cut into what was my ammo/shooting budget, but I am going to take a trip to the closest Cabelas and grab one of the Hornady lockNload reloading kits

I already have thousands of rounds of decent quality once-fired brass, and probably 500 between 3 calibers of nickle plated once-fired brass and 600 rounds of factory new 9MM brass. I have not purchased any of the propellants or projectiles yet, but I think I am going to do all BJHP for 9mm since range ammo is so cheap in that caliber. .223 is also cheap and most of my AR brass is 5.56 NATO stuff, and I would like to load up Hornady GMX projectiles in some and some SS190 (31gr, actually for the 5.7). Going to do good match ammo for my .300 Win mag since it is the most expensive by far

Although if I can't get my range budget under control, I will just have to dip into the coffee budget a little bit. So far so good. Ah the joys of being retired

Fair enough I suppose a better distinction would have been "premium" or just "double the price"

I am looking forward to getting my black rifle coffee 4 pack in the mail now, thinking of starting out with the "JB" variety

Consequently I was sold on this product after seeing the introduction videos

Heck, I like the culture and organizations this supports. Beyond that everything I read about them was positive and supportive so I imagine the coffee itself is pretty darn good

I generally just get my weekend latte at the grocery store Starbucks from the gals.

The rest of the time, I'm hooking myself up from the little local joint up the road. I have no idea what they use, but it tastes all right to me.

Good choice. I look forward to hearing how you like it. If you ever get the CAF, careful not to drink too much. Been there, done that! Really is Caffinated As F#.

Do you get whole bean or pre ground?
