My thoughts too....particularly as he was into real estate and apparently regularly bought properties to let
I'd say his houses were a way for him to make more money from his gambling. If looked back on, the time from purchase to sell would be an indicator. Capital gains are no longer paid after 2 years of residence and if he bounced between them each long enough to trick the system into believing they were primary residences he would basically have his gambling money back out with no taxes in 2 years.
I'm leaning more towards this guy being anti system and true anarchist.

After a series of fully-automatic gunfire popped off and people started getting struck by flying rounds a team of law enforcement officers and another ‘element’ stormed the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay it was feared that there was an additional shooter on the 29th floor.
“We have a four-man team up here and we have another element moving to us. We will need the 29th floor,” one officer said. “It sounds like it’s confirmed, there are at least two shooters with fully-automatic weapons.”

I find it weird that he escaped for ten years and only served 1 year following his capture...
The original reports, as usual, are very different already as far as the Mans personality and life.

Thank you for posting!
I confess I'm totally stupid about this stuff -- echos, reports, sonic booms! -- so I can't really form any opinion with confidence. But it's good to know and keep in mind.

So far, everything supports my theory that this guy was a professional gun runner. He was the straw purchaser with a clean record who buys weapons for people who either can't buy them legally (ie, criminal record) or who don't want a paper trail leading back to them. His high-roller lifestyle (with planes and multiple houses) is easier to explain if he had illegal income, and his supposed track record as a successful gambler is much easier to explain if this was his method for laundering his illegal income.

That would be consistent with the missing gun -- the one he bought in Mesquite right before going to Vegas, but was not found in his room, his vehicles, or his homes. If he was the straw purchaser, he could have handed it off already. I'll be watching to see if any of the rounds found in the investigation are identified as coming from that firearm. But I won't be holding my breath. If we're supposed to believe it was just a lone gunman, that info won't see the light of day.
