A Norristown, Pennsylvania, judge declared a mistrial in a court case that accused entertainer Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting a former employee of his alma mater in his home in 2004. Cosby, 79, could have been convicted of three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault that carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Judge Steven O’Neill declared the mistrial Saturday morning after the jury of seven men and five women failed to reach a unanimous consensus after 52 hours. Cosby said through a spokesman that he felt good about the outcome

I do believe a mistrial leaves an opportunity for retrial. Perhaps this is a way for the judge to let the prosecution get their # together. Perhaps he saw that the jurors were under influence from outside pressure. I know a lot of people who love Cosby.

No, the Jurors were deadlocked, some wanted guilty some wanted not guilty, as they could not reach a consensus, the result is a mistrial which can always be retried.

This is not the judge doing anything special, it's what happens every single time.

He's already been found guilty by the media, why did we even need one of these 'proper' trials?

A mistrial means that the jury could not agree. It says nothing about the validity of the evidence. People's love for Cosby could have just as easily lead to the deadlock.
