Youtube you cheating bastard

When I started to first watch the Mosul operation back in October, there was no shortage of ground combat footage. As it progressed into other areas, like Raqqa as well as the Russian OP in Aleppo, it would be easy to search and find this footage. Mainly because it seemed I would get returns for foreign language videos which I think was some auto translate feature that would search those too. But since the beginning of the year I notice it was becoming more scarce. I just figured the commanders were ordering their guys to stop filming. Not so!

Now I have to type in what I am looking for in google translate, and then copy the translated foreign text into google to get those videos which are sill all there!!! It makes it harder to find footage of the events as they unfold like I did in October through December.

There is a positive note to that though, some of those squiggly lines and dotted curves are becoming familiar to me, which I think means I am starting to learn the language.

You may have it made it harder for me to find what I am searching for YT, but as a result you are forcing me to learn and adapt ...

Bwahaha, soon I shall take over the world! Not really, but now I can at least find those combat videos of the SDF with ISIS I have been searching hard for without the MSM filter. I figured you out man, I figured you out.

I will see if I can apply this same technique to Chinese and Korean language as well to see what I am missing on that front.

I am hoping to see what the 17th army division base looks like so many years after it was lost to ISIS just outside Raqqa. Everything that comes up with that translation though is from years back.


17th army division base = 17 شعبة تقسيم الجيش
Raqqa = الرقة
Syrian Defense Forces = قوات الدفاع السورية
Daesh in Syria = داعش في سوريا

I just did my first search on that last one, not pretty at all.
remember that its like other Eastern languages, it reads from right to left. So you may have some funky times trying to get it right.

As far as why I am searching for this stuff, I am trying to stay up to date with the relevant threads that I do updates on with these battle zones. And now that I kind of figured out this trick, I will be searching for Chinese and Korean news about whats going on there as well. Clearly they would have a seriously unique perspective we are not typically exposed to. Without doing this foreign language search we could be missing out on lots of key information.

I recommend keeping a google translate page open at all times when doing this. It will streamline the search operation and facilitate quicker research.
I just caught this American daesh member tell us how stupid we were for pretty much giving them the weapons, and that they have reverse engineered and made from scratch their own ATGM. This guy right here in fact, has he been taken out yet???

Except from what I am witnessing right now from their video, is that they have developed their own remote controlled weapons, and what may be a first gen manpad of their domestic production.

The problem with the remote controlled equipment is that this is very likely the reason our air assets continue to hit with heavy collateral damage. If these guys are simply firing weapons remotely, we re hitting targets that may not even have one of their extremists on sight, and just vaporizing civilians.

If this knowledge became more public, perhaps we could work on counter measures or new intelligence gathering techniques to actually confirm is we are actually hitting these guys or just blowing up a gun and twenty civilians.

Interesting find. So YouTube used to translate for you? Why would they take that feature out?

I don't know for sure if they did or did not. I do remember though that I use to get search results in foreign language sometimes, and then realized after a few months, that I no longer saw them come up in search results. It could just be my perception too though. My next adventure into this though will be for North Korea stuff for sure. I ran into one of their official state news channels on youtube a couple weeks back by jumping between recommended videos. I think I linked it in the North Korea watch thread. That was before I thought to translate my search terms first though. Who knows what we can find now.

Mind you the translate feature is not ... perfect. But it works well enough to catch the gist of it. Although some come up just weird.

Think what you like about me mate. I have a world of gore at my fingertips but I choose not to watch it.

All those beheading videos, people being burnt in cages etc. I haven't watched any of them. I could at any time but I choose not to.

thats the Arabic translation though, they have a Kurdish languag as well, which is what I think I will have to start searching more for than arabic

There are quite a few Kurds in my local city. They drive around with the YPG flag on their cars, it's cool to see. They're good people.

Youtube recently changed their search algorithms because gay and lesbian vids were being flagged as porn. Might have something to do with it.
