My signal sucks for video at work

I'll have to watch it tonight.

I really hope they don't screw it up like so many other King stories.

For something so special, it looks horribly generic.

I have read my share of generic books - Dark Tower was never one (or, well, seven + one + sort of one) of them. Oh well, I it would be hard to recreate a DT-universe that felt 'right' to me.

Not off to a good start, changing his race for no apparent reason.

The dude is supposed to have that Clint Eastwood look, and is descended from the line of King Arthur.
That said, that reload was pretty darn cool looking.

Just watch the first five minutes. If it ends like the book the tower opens up to a NYC street where the whole thing begins.

King took eight years to screw me with that one.

You didn't think king screwed it up enough on his own?

Race? They are both humans. Movies are hardly ever like their source material, so Im fine with this.

Books six and seven with their HP and SW rip offs were a bit of a let down although the very end was pretty good.

Almost all King books made into movies suck.

I don't see this one being an exception,

Wow, it's been a while but Jakes role was pretty small in the 1st book I thought. This seems like he is the focus. And certainly no backstory on Jake in the first book.
As for the ethnicity, I admit it threw me at first thinking it was typical Hollywood BS being progressive. But, Idris Elba is a damn good actor. If they threw Will Smith in there I would have vomited.
I hope Mathew M pulls off a great walkin' dude. It's hard to picture him in The Stand version.

Black Roland's totally going to mess with Odetta.

From what I read the film is starting from the third book.

Agreed. I think the exceptions are:

1. The Shining (original Kubrik version only)
2. The Shawshank Redemption
3. Stand By Me
4. Dead Zone (young Christopher Walken)

I have high hopes for the new It and Dark Tower, but frankly, DT is looking pretty dismal to me from the trailer.

That's the dude from Pacific Rim.

He's also in the new Thor movie.

Finally something from Hollywood that looks interesting.

No I meant The Long Walk. If you have not read it, pick it up. You are missing out on one of Stephen King's best books!
