Explosion hits bus carrying Borussia Dortmund team to Champions League match, injuring player Marc Barta, club says

A Dortmund statement said: “At our bus departure, an incident has occurred. One person was injured. More information to follow.”

There are unconfirmed reports that the person injured is Dortmund defender Marc Bartra.

Bild was reporting that the Spaniard was injured and on the way to hospital.

Just checking the updates for this the last 10 minutes.


No mention of a bomb yet though just an "explosion".


The big game (Champions League Quarter Final) might be called off.

Sorry "bomb" was my word. I misread "blast" on the headline.

But it looks like my mistake was rigt anyway. From my 2nd source....

Dortmund tweeted to say that their players were safe. "Bomb explosion at the team bus at the team hotel. Players are safe. No hazard in and at the stadium. More information to follow.”

Team's twitter called it a bomb explosion, some media is just saying "explosion" others are quoting the team.

if only one injured it is not that bad, lets hope.

Marc Bartra has been taken to hospital but his wife reported he is okay.

Who the f#ck uses IEDs now? One player Marc Batra was injured and a bus window sustained damage from the blast. The question remains if the BVB bus was the intended target or not.
