Then call it what it may as well be a blood drenched crusade, a religious conflict but one that drags the hole of the religion's name through the mud!

The terrorists attack the unarmed, the woman and children and then use there religion and the fear and hate now aimed at them which was created by there attacks to validate themselves!

I'm still following The Guardian live updates

The met now says 40 wounded
40, that's frankly astounding

i just can't imagine a group of 40 individuals being taken out by a car
was he knocking these people down like skittles for 10 minutes ?

I can see a truck (like in Nice) going through a busy, jammed packed, promenade
at night .. on Bastille day

It must have been a heaving, target rich, field of play

but mid afternoon,
on an average weekday ?
on that bridge
and out of nowhere ...

That's the most 'sensless' thing that i take out of it all

Saw on Sky News MP Barry Gardiner interviewed outside Westminster Abbey said "the policewoman, I understand, who was stabbed has lost HER life".

But it was a guy?

Sad day, somewhere I have taken my daughter regularly. I guess the place will be locked down even more now and demonstrations usually held around the area stopped.

Mark Rowley, assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said the police were "satisfied at this stage it looks like there was only one attacker".

The man believed to be the attacker is dead, he said.

Four people have died and at least 20 people were injured in the attack.

I am not satisfied. How can a man with a knife kill a police officer? I understand a gun, but they need to get close to attack with a knife.

If you want to carry a knife with as little visibility and its a few seconds to slash a throat etc then you can use what I always remember as the assassins grip where basically you keep the knife as close to your forearm and then at the moment just slit the throat. I use the same principle when the Mrs is in the kitchen as its good knife control and is very safe in that the blade is next to my forearm and am able to safely hand it over to her.

If you've seen the bridge theres loads of people crossing it so 40 people is pretty good in a perverse sense.

While it is sad that so many people were wounded and that 4 inocent people have died, I think we should be thankful that it was not worse. They could have had a gun! Or heaven forbid a bomb! It would be the London bombings again!

Nope. Other religions have nothing to do with this. It's all in their minds.

this support isn't underground, its WIDESPREAD at Mosques, universities, colleges

They hate us, their young men hate us, you can feel it.

I'm 56 but I've been aware of this since I was about 11...when I was body checked and threatened by a Pakistani youth while walking down the street in the middle of the day minding my own business. And I encounter the same kind of arrogant hostility from Pakistani youths to this day.

Now what is it, I ask myself, about an 11 year old little boy and a middle aged man in his 50s that upsets them so much? White skin, duh. This is racial.

Nothing of what is happening today surprises me in the least.

Maybe. But it dame well feels like the terrorists are trying for one!

Sorry for the snaping but these kinds of things just make me so mad, angry and disappointed that someone out there though it was a brilliant idea to mow people down in this day and age!

Time to stand up !

No irony or whatever, intended :

"...Against us the tyranny
The bloodied banner has been raised

Do you hear them in the countryside
Hear the howl of the ferocious soldiers

They're coming right into your arms
To cut the throats of your sons
and your companions !

To arms, citizens ..."

The language may be outdated
but the spirit is there
encapsulated in
2 verses, 2 corus'

The French national anthem

I know I am no warrior but I stand when I feel I must even if it's only though words!
And the poem was inspiring!
So here is one that I think you will like that I found online...

Demons run when a good man goes to war
Night will fall and drown in sun
When a good man goes to war
Friendship dies and true love lies
Night will fall and the dark will rise
When a good man goes to war
Demons run but count the cost
The battles won but the child is lost.

We must always remember what we fight for and what we and others stand to lose if we hold our silence

Sweet :

When a good man goes to war
Demons run but count the cost
The battles won but the child is lost

That the end of the age of innocence may befall us all

I just wrote a poem...

For every sin we must atone,
For every soul returned,
For every life severed short,
For every family torn,

See thier souls stained in shreds,
Them selves to blame for the mess,
For the cause that they have sworn!

It's a wee bit more ... 'eye for an eye'
than 'turn the other cheek'
given the tone of the thread
