The dysphoria itself is not considered a mental illness. But it can lead to some negative feelings like stress and anxiety, or depression. Surely you can understand why. When the dysphoria is dealt with (changing the body to match the gender identity), many of those negative feelings go away - unless of course, the person is still dealing with hateful people who continue to treat them like crap.

# 1 Well, some people may think they are ok, but really arent, for example...the current president of the United States.

# 2Another example may be a child being molested but doesnt realize the seriousness of it.

# 3However, transgenderism is not a mental disorder, just bc people do not know much of it, does not mean it is a disorder that needs "fixing".

I'm confused is there supposed to be some sort of connection in these

three different/separate situations

If you are implying he had gender dsyphoria, you don't understand gender dysphoria.

If you are saying he had anxiety and depression following his "incident, then, sure. Lots of situations can cause anxiety and depression.

So let me get this straight.
a guy walks into his doctor's office and says he has gender dysphoria which is totally normal in mammals apparently
and the doctor says "righto, I've got just the thing!
Well lob off your jimjam!"
Am i missing something?

Your intentional obtuseness is clearly nothing but trolling and you obviously have no interest in listening to what others have already said, learning anything about the trans condition or more closely examining your own close-minded views. You willful ignorance is in stark contrast to this site's motto of denying same and you should really ask yourself if you're just here to push buttons to try and get a rise out of people or if you'd like to learn more about the world around you and be a better person? My guess is you would rather instigate and it seems rather pointless to continue on with things you aren't going to hear anyway.

Although not remotely likely, if I have misjudged your intentions and you would genuinely like to know more about trans issues and the process of transition and "changing sex", I can help with that because that was my child and teenage experience some 45+ years ago, I'm well studied in this area and have lived with "gender dysphoria" all my life but honestly, why bother trying to educate someone that thinks they already know everything.

At least give me credit for recognizing a lost cause when I see one. Have a good day!

What health care professionals? Because the DSM III listed homosexuality as a mental disorder... Mental health is a political-science, not a rational science.

thinkprogress.org...

And this:

It is true that trans identities are still contained within a manual of mental disorders, which alone can be stigmatizing regardless of how the classification is labeled. Still, for many trans patients, the availability of this diagnosis remains important in a way that it was not for homosexuality decades ago. For those who seek a physical transition to achieve a sense of personal congruity, some insurance providers will only cover the expenses if they are deemed “medically necessary” by a physician.
