South Korean news are reporting the North has test fired a ballistic missile , it's unknown as to the range of the missile but it comes a week after Defence Secretary James Mattis threatened an overwhelming response if the North were to use a Nuke.

North Korea has fired an unidentified type of ballistic missile, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports. Pyongyang has conducted a number of nuclear tests in the past year.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said in January that the country was close to testing long-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. North Korea's repeated missile and nuclear tests and aggressive statements continue to alarm and anger the region

The President is entertaining Prime Minister Abe tonight so I expect a response probably tomorrow , softly softly catchy monkey Mr president.

This is like a toddler with poor motor skills bringing a cap-gun against a dozen or more well-trained professional infantry members with high-caliper fully automatics and unlimited ammunition.

Is there any reason to believe NK actually has nuclear weapons, or are they just trying to cause a stir to gain attention? What firepower could they possible have that could actually threaten the outside world before they get completely obliterated?

They know exactly how far it traveled. My guess is not that far or they would have made a big deal of its "InterContinental-BM" status.

(Sepulchral voice) None shall be allowed to defend themselves against the mighty US Juggernaut!

They do it every year around March. Usually not this early though. It's typically seen as yelling they need aid, which they always get, but now they are pulling it earlier. If conditions in NK are worsening, it's bad news for SK. NK is bat-shoot crazy.

Yes they have nuclear weapons. Few people believe they have miniaturized them to the level that would go on to a missile.
Though others say it's possible.

And I don't know where you have your information from but NK could level the # out of South Korea and all the 1,000s and 1,000s of US troops there on a first strike. They have LOTS of firepower in the form of rocket and artillery strike capabilities.

The distance it travels is irrelevant. It's the type tested that matters. ICBMs don't have to travel their max distance to test accuracy and efficiency.

They have conducted underground tests of what are believed to be Nuclear devices but it is not believed they've managed to shrink the devices down to a size to put on a rocket.

They have the materials. They have the capability to create war heads. It's it's ability to launch long range that is doubtful.

North Korea needs to be taken out.

If Trump decides to take out Kim Jong Un, and do something about North Korea I'd gain some respect for him.

Yes, we have verified their nuke tests were nukes. Little ones, but is there really such a thing as a little nuke?

They could inflict massive damage on South Korea, and a fair amount on Japan if they decided to. That would happen before a response could happen. Granted, a missile shot at Japan would have a fair chance of intercept, one shot at South Korea could not.

All they really want is to be able to lob one into Seoul.

This is proof of trumans idiocy btw...but he can't be blamed as liberals abhor winning wars...it is anathema to their ethos of perpetual failure...

General Douglas MacArthur said if we did not defeat the communist North Koreans they would have nukes within a half century and a delivery platform soon thereafter...

Once again the Supreme Commander of Allied Pacific Forces is proven correct in his prognostications regarding his beloved South Pacific..

We should have destroyed them in 1951 with overwhelming force as was MacArthurs want...

sidenote: Iran uses North Korean misses for their delivery systems...so without trumans intervention we would have no Iranian missle capabilities either...
