This event occurred in the area of the previous North Korean Nuclear tests. The event has earthquake-like characteristics, however, we cannot conclusively confirm at this time the nature (natural or human-made) of the event.

The depth is poorly constrained and has been held to 5 km by the seismologist.

Cluster off of oregon...not uncommon, but living in western Washington there is always this sense that all the beauty - the mountains, the forests, etc. - may come at a price. From the cascadia mega thrust 5000 fault, to several sleeping Dragon volcanoes and most dire of all... Kitsap naval base which holds the largest stockpile Of nukes in the world.

I've procrastinated way too long on making a survival or bug-out bag that is ready to go immediately. Anyone else in the PNW should at least discuss with family and come up with a plan becuase I was in the Nisqually earthquake back in 2001, and the main thing I remember other than the ground literally moving like waves is that phone service was down immediately. No one knew how to get a hold of anyone. Eventually lines became available, but it was a few hours.

What I did in my family, which is all adults, is designate a primary and secondary "home" spot or place to assemble and stocked them both with beans, rice, bottled water, firewood, whatever you would need for a year without electricity or potable water. Whether or not any of us will be able to travel to our locations is an unfortunate variable. Also, always keep your gas tank full! I just added four 5-gallon gas cans to my get-out-now manifest.

So, I have a app on my phone that notifies me of EQs.. I noticed four decent size EQs all coming from the same area, on my phone its Tadine, New Caledonia.. I'm seeing recent activity of a 6.8 EQ, 4.9 EQ , a 6.1 EQ and a 5.0 EQ all taking place today, and recently... Could this area be waking up? Is this worth keeping an eye on?

What a large release in that area in the last 4 weeks...quite a few 6's and a BUNCH 5's

I wouldn't be surprised to see a upper 8 mag...or even a 9.0 😵

The One Mag Rule seemed to be in play there today. I saw the 6.6, and the 5.9 that followed and thought "There's a biggen coming eventually". Kinda started to doubt my hunch a bit with all the 4's and 5's, but then the 7 showed up. It's just a wait & see now, but it's probably done rockin' & rolling for now.

5.4 M, 72 km ESE of Whitier, Alaska. 11-27-2017, 13:18:29, depth 20 km.

It rocked us a bit here in Anchorage. Nothing too drastic. No tsunami warning (probably), not strong enough.

I know it's small...but this is the very area that has been locked up since 1700.


It's the second or third one this year right on the subduction zone

There has been several 4's just W. Of Vancouver island over the last couple of months; on the northern most part of Cascadia..

Approximately, 6.5 followed by another 6.5 followed by a 6.1 with a few smaller ones popping off.

Yes it could be a big one but so far the mags are decreasing.

As usual, wait and see. That is all one can do.
