You know what is really happening? The ball is on their court. 10 years ago, they could bend and shape our understanding of the world. However, now we have the power to communicate independently. Before, they could keep the ball outside the court, outside the stadium if they wanted to. Something is going on in Turkey? No problem, we'll just erase any coverage for a while. That kind of thing. Hillary has serious health issues? No problem, we'll call them conspiracy theorists. But now the ball is being fought for. There's a struggle and the outcome is uncertain. This is unprecedented to them.

So now, the ball is on their court. They didn't even know it was possible for the ball to drop by there.

It is awfully convenient when there is a large surge of negative towards a certain individual and their party that all these other issues just magically happen. OR when there is a narrative a certain administration is trying to go for and all the sudden a whole bunch of incidents happen in a short amount of time that get people to sway towards said narrative.

It isn't just the media. They are being played as well.

Oh yes, I have to admit that I'm feeling a tad nervous concerning what's going on in Syria though a lot like many others
on ATS. and yes we have to pick the bones out of some of the B******t but we on here do seem to be very Knowledgable
thankfully we usually ignore the chaff and see through all of the rubbish

I still say shut it down. Shut down your TV. Stop being bombarded by crap.

The elites aren't standing still. They are going to come up with something. Digital money grab seems to be on the horizon. I don't know. I say stop jacking off everyday for online porn and do some work. Think globally, act locally. By the way even if you spend way to much time on the Internet, you're not a hermit. You still have to eat, live, and sleep in society. So give something back, something that's going to build a better future. Coding isn't enough too. We live by emotions as well. And there's so substitute for eye-to-eye contact. So the silliness on the Internet has to go away.

Unfortunately we also want to be anonymous. What's going to happen when on one side, there's the government cataloging every possible biometric it can grab and on the other side, there are private companies asking you to give out your own biometrics as a means to access your most private data. How's that going to work? Forget anonymity. It's an illusion. However, we can flood the system and as a part of the flood, be truly anonymous.

In a way, yes, they're being played. But that's the nature of media, they play whatever tune they need to. So it's not like they have no hand in how things play out.
