I like America's gun culture immensely. There's much to learn and do. It's a way to get outdoors for extended periods of time. You meet great people.

See? I'm typing still. No one's killed me yet ... and neither has an inanimate object. DIGG

Ok fine. That's news to me.
Strawberry fields, Eleanor Rigby and penny Lane had a real Brit feel to them.
I'm just biased I guess,
dam I forgot Queen , Uriah Heep!
Forgot Pink Floyd as well

Jazz, doo-wop, swing, blues, country, rockabilly, and rock and roll were all American inventions. Actually they were from the South, pioneered largely by rural southerners of several races.

As a heavy metal fan, I appreciate the hell out of the UK and their musical contributions, but Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Buddy Hollywood, and a slew of one-third doo-wop bands from the US made it possible.

If we're talking US music inventions, Rap goes in there, too.

Lyrics don't matter, the message theme and tone is what they took from the blues. The blues are all about taking your life's experiences and grooving them into and emotional expression through the music.

The ONE big thing came from the Beatles though. Before them albums were just a bunch of singles and filler. The Beatles came up with the "album". Without the Beatles you wouldn't have Pink Floyd, etc.

Yea us Americans started it but y'all finished it. Which is a nice change of pace... Lol.

My favorite beers are Amrican but he European influence can't be denied...

Lol.

Unless we start talking Michigan / Amsterdam my favorite things are covered in this thread .

Try some Canuckistani:

That's WAY old. We;re right in the middle of American and Brit music. Perfect place to be.

We aren't responsible for Nickleback and Celine Dion though.

I always liked the feathers and the beads.

Maybe it's a Northern culture.
But tell me what is better?
In Saudi Arabia they gonna behead a 17-year-old, because he complained about the regime on Twitter.
Then they gonna sew his head back on and crucify him.

Despite whatever faults - the US to me means freedom of speech.
It's an easy thing to say, until it's gone.

But it's OK.

I heard all the leftists saying, if Trump wins they're going to Canada.

I mean God forbid, they'd never go to Mexico.

But I like US culture.
ATS is US culture.

I don't know what's actually going on in the US.
It seems the police have a lot of powers.

But the US sneezes, and the world catches a cold.

That's why I try to stay up to date.
Because what happens in the the US spreads to the whole world.

I'd like to disagree with you since I cut my teeth on Metallica, rolled into White Zombie, then Slipknot, now Five Finger Death Punch... but my top 3 are all UK with Maiden, Sabbath, and Priest.

That's cool. You know i love some Metallica, and I got much love for zombie and his whole artistic shtick.hope to catch the early 31 screen on Thursday... I'll leave my opinions on slip knot and 5 finger out of this.. Don't get me wrong a highlight of my life is system of a down/ slipknot pledge of allegiance tour 2002..

I'm with ya like I said in my original post my favorites are the greats... Beatles Zeppelin sabbath Floyd Radiohead maiden .. But all of that was heavily influenced by what we started here in the states... The blues.

Brits really knew how to take it to the next level...

Like I always say, if you want to see 90s grunge rock done to perfection , look no further than radio heads live at the Astoria... No wonder they went off the deep end musically they took what we were doing and nailed it within 2 years... On to the next level .

Sorry for the pop music tangent .

I will modify what I said. We must have something...because there are a lot of nations who come here for the job opportunities and availability of products and lifestyles we have here.

No, perhaps not Canada...but certainly there are quite a few that do.

Hey Intrepid? Once about 40 years ago, I wanted to move your way across the Detroit River into Windsor, Toronto or maybe Ottawa.

Back then, you couldnt just move there...you had to have a job waiting for you lined up over there 1st.

Still like that now? I suppose probably not?

Sorry, but I heard I'm going to be an uncle!

Go USA!
It's all because of American music.

We like what music?
Italian or Japanese?
North Korean?
No, we like American music.
Yeah.

I prefer nickelback to the guess who.

Bryan Adams was pretty good although he's not got a timeless sound I still like, Don't care for Celine.... Elevator music IMO

Heart is my favourite Canadian band. April Wine and BTO also good. Loverboy too.

We immigrated to Canada because my dad said " it's the land of opportunity". Both great countries to live in. Not that Ive ever lived in the states.
