Fired these last weekend. These are handmade by me, and are not pre-made "bisque-ware" from one of those "paint it" ceramics stores. They all started a hunks of raw clay.

Red-ware "trencher"

Celadon glazed incense burner

I'll post more if folks are interested.........

Do you need a special oven for those?

I built my own pottery kiln. It is propane fired, and these pieces were fired up to approx 1800F over a 6hr period.

Beautiful pieces! Very Earthy. They seem old, even though they are not.

ETA: are you able to do a cracked glaze? I'm a big fan of that.
edit on 17/6/16 by argentus because: (no reason given)

My daughter loves to do pottery. She did 4 years in high school. I bought her a pottery wheel but we need to get a kiln...

Your stuff looks great. keep it up.

Excellent work. You have a knack for branding your design and I like the simple plant motif.

What are your influences?

Thanks! I love 18th Century pottery and Simon Leach (he has the best YouTube pottery videos). I have a few pieces I just glazed in a white glaze with cobalt blue accents.

Those have to be my all time favorite colors in ceramics. I am especially fond of the celadons; I really like your incense burner.

And that trencher has such a nice glaze and shape.

How long have you been at it?

Here is an older piece I posted here before. But, you might have missed it. This one I presented as a gift to the hospital nursing staff after my last spinal fusion surgery.

I've been doing pottery off and on for about 6 years now. I'm just getting back into it again.
