This is just breaking. Authorities are searching for a child that may have been dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian. Apparently people were lined up at the beach waiting to get into a movie from what they're saying. This would have happened about two three and a half hours ago.

EDIT:

Found a source:

Orlando Sentinel

Deputies were searching early Wednesday morning for a toddler who was dragged into the water by an alligator near Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Tuesday night, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office. A report of a 2-year-old child being dragged into the water came in at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rose Silva said.

Okay what they're saying in the conference is that the child was playing in about a foot of water in the Seven Seas Lagoon. The alligator attacked the child, the father tried to wrestle the child from the alligator and was unsuccessful. He starts screaming for help and people descended including the life guard on duty.

HORRIBLE.

Can this week go f itself? We have a mass shooting, a young girl stabbed by a mentally unstable person, a cop and his wife stabbed by a guy that apparently said he was from ISIS, some jackass taking hostages at wal mart and now a little girl attacked by a freaking alligator?

I know it's way worse every day, but crap.

I'm going to get drunk, watch some stupid comedy shows and snuggle my dog. Also all of you people I argue with, I love you too even if you're wrong.

What's going on seems like more gator attacks-last week or so people claimed a man was carried off by one, more shark attacks, etc. Or is it just the summer with more people about. In this case may be people unfamiliar of FL's lake's inhabitants then again who'd have thought they'd be unsafe at that place. They come in through the damns of the canals. Guess they'll have to work better on securing the areas.

I really wish the best for the and a safe recovery(despite knowing what gators can do).

Horrified, shocked and immensely saddened to hear this.

We've all been led to believe that Disney is a relatively enclosed, safe environment. Hell, we took our kids to DW three years ago and stayed for several days at the Wilderness Lodge right off that same waterway. My kids were allowed to run amok along the waters edge. I would have never dreamed alligators to be a threat there.

Prayers going out to this family.

I'm affected buy the fact... my cousin from Titusville Florida, Frequently went there. He was at Disney that very day..if I'm not mistaken. ( NOPE I READ IT RIGHT) was a target. The blinders are closing in..nope he was at Disney. . Then my cousin gave a very touching speech from his non-discrimination church view point of that days event.

I really hate hate!

You hate! Go f×÷k your self!

There are no signs warning of gators in the area, but there are notices posted against swimming in the man-made lake.

Half right sorta.

It's awful, I remember going to Florida as a kid and we treated all water as potentially containing a gator, i mean they are on the sides of the roads chilling in ditches sometimes. I suppose at Disney one would let their guard down?

Can only image the parents grief.

there is no getting away from alligators in Florida... grew up there, always gave any ponds/lakes near large concentrations of people a wide berth. Stupid people like to feed the gators... when a gator gets used to it and comes up expecting food they get irritated when not fed and bad things happen.

A gator in the wild (IE actual swamps/woods) is a pretty tame laid back animal (unless its breeding season) but like in most cases people screw everything up.

My heart breaks for the family, horrible way to go... I hope the dad gets some serious pysch help in the coming months he will need it.
