So I was at my place when an expat dropped in with some young rappers who was to perform at his club the following night, conversation was jovial with lots of questions about Japan, this being their first time and all, we were at the beach fluffy white clouds with a beam of sunlight almost lazer like hitting the water, it was beautiful and aw-inspiring and that's the problem.

God came in the picture which is ok but then the tides began to roll out exposing moss covered rocks, and one guy..I swear I am not making this up..said in O Reilly style, how can anyone explain.. that!! pointing at the receding water, that God is not responsible, at first I thought he was taking a piss at O Reilly's infamous quip, but naaw dude was serious, and others joined nodding in agreement.. keep in mind these are freakin ...Millennials!!
People born and bred into the most information driven age in history, I am not generally rude to my guest or customers, but I kinda lost it, are you fking kidding me!! how could you not know the action of the moon's gravitational pull on the earth, you graduated right?? answer yes they all did, and somehow this bit of information escaped you??.. then I quizzed them..why is the sky Blue?? a question every child asked at one time or another. answers were not forth coming, so I flipped open my laptop and showed them this kiddie easy to understand explanation.
spaceplace.nasa.gov...
They were blown away, now don't get me wrong they were or seemed smart in everything else, very articulate , but I was taken aback by their age and lack of basic info, I expected my gramps to give answers like they did, not have me palmed faced.

You missed your chance dude. You should have nodded your head and said, 'Yes, yes I am'.

Bill Murray's advice rings true now more than ever.

Maybe they were waxing philosophical beyond the Moon's influence.

Like the advanced mathematics that abounds this beautiful universe.

Something's going on.

Should have just said, "Krakens".

That's what I tell my son when we go to the beach. giant sea monsters swishing the water around.

Yep.

Krakens.

I've developed a habit of saying "You are welcome." when someone says "Thank Gawd."
It is surprising how many people don't even catch it.

But "Gawd" isn't taught in schools.

I thought the educational standards were leftist/liberal.

I would have to agree with Kali here, the revisionist especially in science and history textbooks is coming mostly from the other camp. actually one of the guy is from Texas the others are from Atlanta.
