Something you’ll never see at a Democrat or Republican convention: A candidate for Libertarian Party chair on Sunday danced and stripped down to his thong before leaving the stage amid a chorus of boos.

James Weeks announced immediately after his striptease, which was performed to music, that he would drop out of the race, adding, “I’m sorry, that was a dare.”

Mr. Weeks was apparently a late entry to the race for chair and his name was not listed on the party’s initial materials.

What better place to vent about this than ATS.

How can one NOT look at the conspiratorial aspect?

For the first time, the Libertarian Party is polling at 10%-11% nationally.

Obviously this threatens the 2 Party stranglehold.

Earlier today Trump calls Johnson a "fringe" candidate.

And now this???

Not suggesting that the actions of this person were Trump related but its not beyond the realm of possibilities that both establishment Parties would like to see the LP further discredited.

Heres an unknown, some late entry and it gives the media perfect ammo to help sink the Party.

Did the media cover the Libertarian ideals and principles? Of-course not. Just this monstrosity.

In a way, this is a testament to the nonviolent principles of the LP.

If this did happen at the Rep or Dem national convention, this land whale would have been tasered or shot then dragged off stage.

I think they could have made an exception and simply asked him to leave and maybe even escorted him offstage without have to resort to violence.

I don't know either. I haven't really followed the guy's politics. Maybe he's brilliantly pulling the Libertarian party into the limelight by participating in the media circus.

That's one way to get press. You know what they say...."Any publicity is "good" publicity!"

Not sure if I agree with you that this was a staged event to generate a positive outcome.

I do think it was staged but only to help discredit the Party.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I think it was a great deliberate propaganda piece.
This will get the libertarian party alot of publicity and and none of it bad.
Those 10-11% an above post mentioned support the party will understand it was an idiot and not the party and not change their vote.

People who hear this news and think its ridiculous would not have voted for them anyway so realistically what they think is irrelevant but some of those people will get on google and realise its a worthy of a vote.

But then theres the people who werent even aware they were an option and some of them will also decide to vote for them.
As for the ones who dont at least now they know its a possibilty.

I reckon these guys have taken a leaf out of trumps book, i predict a hell of alot more schnanigans out these guys in the coming months.
With this election, even on the other side of the world u can tell its a messed up divisive one.

That's where my interest faltered.

this is gonna take the media attention away from trump!! wonder what he'll do to top it?

the video kind of struck me as if at least a small group in the audience knew what was gonna happen, but that's just the impression I got. others seems to be rather irked about it. but no one really tried to stop it before it was over really.
kind of makes me think there's and end goal to this.

When I was at MegaCon in Orlando this past weekend, met Vermin Supreme a few times...(it's a Sci Fi/Fantasy Con, so wife and I are cosplaying, we're the ones in the black and blue armor)....Vermin in the middle. You know, the guy who promises free ponies!

The Libertarian Party's convention was pretty close by....so we saw a lot of them drift over.
