Hm, interesting.

Well, my story probably won't be what you'd expect from a topic like this. I suppose I'll use this opportunity to do a bit of world-building for a place in an RPG I'd like to one day create.

If you've ever played any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games then one of my major inspirations is The Zone.

Urgh, I have two versions of my story and am agonizing over which one to publish.

A somewhat more minimalistic one.
Sentences written in mock poetry, much like this.
Certainly much more aesthetic, but is the content better?
That, I suppose I will have to decide.

The other version is more verbose and descriptive, but simple things like extra words and longer sentences doesn't necessarily make something superior. I tend to have problems finding the right tempo and write out far more than I likely should. I'll probably end up going with the first one, but release the more "typically story-like" one after voting is finished next month.

How does ATS post limiting work? Is it by character count or pure length of the post in terms of vertical space?
As in, is aaaa equal to:
- a
- a
- a
- a? Or is the latter considered 4 times "larger" even the character count is identical?
Due to the nature of the mock-poem format, even if it has less words it will likely be a bit longer due to reduced density.

Hm, I'd probably consider this "competent" or "slightly below average" in terms of what I believe I am able to write. The theme isn't exactly my cup of tea, and the story itself is... Odd. I'm not sure I could even call it a "story", it's more like a hastily written prologue to a trilogy.

It does hold a "secret" though. It should be relatively obvious, but I wonder if people will notice just what that secret really is...
