Great article summarizing the point I made in an earlier OP regarding the danger of putting Bernie Sanders in a general election.

Sure they like him now but after the GOP gets to trounce his reputation as a big spending socialists Bernie will likely fade like a ice cream cone in a kid’s mouth!

What they really show is a candidate who hasn’t been attacked.

It’s true that Sanders does better than Clinton in hypothetical matchups against the Republicans. Currently, Sanders outperforms Clinton by more than seven percentage points against Trump, and by nearly nine points against Ted Cruz. But that’s not because Sanders is the stronger nominee. It’s because Republicans haven’t yet trashed him the way they’ve trashed Clinton. Once they do, his advantage over her would disappear.

The problem with current polls that test Sanders against Trump or Cruz is that they don’t capture the effects of the fall campaign. As Harry Enten points out in FiveThirtyEight, early general-election polls in previous cycles were predictively worthless. Early in the 2000 election, for instance, George W. Bush led Al Gore by 12 percentage points. “Bush, then the Texas governor, burst onto the national scene with relatively little negative media scrutiny,” Enten observes. Between December 1999 and November 2000, as the scrutiny intensified, Bush’s net favorability fell 27 percentage points. He ended up losing the popular vote.

I like Bernie but it is too much of risk to run him and allow the crazy republicans to win

You have no qualms about having Hillary as POTUS? You're confident she has your interests at heart, even though she's quite obviously in with the Elites and Big Money Powers? Wow, she's good.

I hear it now

Bernie’s a commie

Hell raise taxes so high you won’t be able to buy a car

He wants to bring socialism to America

He'll ruin business in America

Favors the poor and indulges in class warfare

He’ll destroy the educational system with socialist programs

He’ll abandon Israel

When they get finished with Bernie they'll make him Fidel Castro's brother

They could quote the 2015 letter in which Sanders urged President Obama to “raise revenue” through “executive action.” They could dig up quotes from decades ago, in which Sanders called himself “clearly anti-capitalistic,” complained that U.S. interventions in Latin America “have been for the benefit of large corporations,” and praised communist countries as culturally superior. “Contrast what the young people in China and Cuba are doing for themselves and for their country as compared to the young people in America,” Sanders argued in 1976.

Hey…where in the mud whether we want to admit it or not

Of course I don’t have much confidence in Hillary but what’s the alternative

Bernie can’t win so what’s the choice. Two crazy republicans…one wants to starve people to death and the other wants to bring the US to fascism

As long as she has a 'D' after her name he is happy.

It doesn't matter how horrible a person she is...because you know...somehow a Republican winning would be worse than her crimes, policies and personality. Gotta love partisan politics.

I theorize that in a face off between Hillary and Trump will result in a Trump win.

In a Sanders and Trump face off the result will be a Sanders win.

If you look up the word 'hyperbole' in the dictionary this is the statement that is used as an example. What a load of BS.

This might as well be a GOP hit piece.

" Let's not pay attention to the polls, well the ones that show us the results we don't like...yeah just those ones.

Everyone in this clown care of an election is technically supposed to be un-electable. War mongering hawks, bigots and religious fanatics describe the current field of candidates on both sides, other than Bernie who represents a thing that Americans have feared for generations, which is just as bad politically speaking as the others.

So...

None of them should have a chance in hell in the general, but this is America, and some weird sh.t is happening.

The same reason Kasich is said to do better against the Democrats than Trump or Cruz. But then certain people think Trump has no chance against either Democrat candidate because of what polls say. Just like Carter beat Reagan in 1980. Hehe

It isn't like any of us WANT to vote for these people.

What choice have we been 'given' by the PTB?

They are all dogs with fleas.

The only people that approve of the republicans trashing people are there extremist base.

This explains the GOP and there candidates low approval ratings.

You don't see Hilary, Cruz other any other candidate running on there record.

I think Bernie can win and win huge once the independents can vote.

based on your comment, I would say the best option is to not vote at all since voting is subjecting ourselves to continue to be oppressed in this bullsh*t system.

Every single person refuses to vote, every single person refuses to pay taxes. Bam, utopia for all (sarcasm).. if only it were so easy

So trying to convince any of us that ONE of these people is less electable than the other is just carefully placed political propaganda for either Hillary or the GOP.

It isn't MY GOP.

See that is the point. I am not a slave to partisan BS like you appear to be.

I don't care who is trying to take my rights away...they all suck.

Democrats want to limit gun rights...Republicans want to limit abortion rights...they are ALL wrong...people need freedom not more partisan BS. Stop being a tool for the political machine.

Poor and middle class people in this country have to learn to vote their interests...and that NEVER includes the GOP

If I thought for one second Bernie could get elected I would go all in for him but I know politics too well.

Maybe we are in a new era where a 74 year old Jewish socialist can get elected in America but I wouldn’t want to take the risk and elect a humanitarian catastrophe in Trump or Cruz

I have been convinced by the Democrats that the Republicans are unelectable and the Republicans have convinced me that the Democrats are unelectable. What are we left with? A whole lot of unelectable candidates that I don't want to vote for in November.

Well, when Fidel and Che took over Cuba, they called themselves democratic socialists, sound familiar? Clearly Bernie doesn't have what it takes to orchestrate a communist revolution in the U.S. (thankfully), but he is certainly moving us in that direction.
