Epic... I don't know why but the score reminds me of the: War of the Worlds LP.
I'm sure I can hear chords from Jeff Wayne's "Forever Autumn" track.

Damn now I've got to listen again

I was saving that

Cody

ETA: Sound of silence is basically Am,G, F and C

Forever autumn is similar with Bb Dm thrown in, it's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the basics

Cody

Yeah... There it is @ 2:27.

Very astute sir

As Thunder child makes her turn or when Carrie sees him ?

Also the acoustic chords at the end ............................

@ 7:01 on " forever Autumn" and @ 4:00 on the "Disturbed" track

Are they the same?
One has obviously more tempo but still uses 8 chords.

I'm a purist, and I just can't do it. Reminds me of that god awful cover of Imagine that Tool or whoever did years ago.
A timeless and already perfect song can not be improved upon.
Disturbed should have closed up shop years ago

I first came across this in the Mood Music thread a few weeks ago and was blown away. It was frustrating though as it left me wanting more. I checked youtube to see if Disturbed had any other covers and was disappointed to find nothing of the calibre of this song. I wanted to hear how the band would arrange something like Fool to Cry or how David would bend his voice around Perfect Day.

Thank you Gortex for giving this cover it's own Thread.

I've been playing it for the last hour now

This "Disturbed" song has captured some of It's essence... As well has being a classic cover song that's been done very well.

Simon and Garfunkel are literally my spirit animals.

I feel that 'The Sound of Silence' is just such a great song that anyone with a somewhat decent voice can sing it and it sound beautiful. So, I'm still moved by the song and less moved by the singer.

I would have been more excited if he picked one of their many lesser known songs. I want to hear Disturbed do 'Bleecker Street'.

Have you heard any of Aaron Lewis's (Staind) covers? I like 'Nutshell' and 'Comfortably Numb'.

Thank you! Have always liked his voice......... I'm very surprised. This is epic, and moving and really powerful. Old S&G fan here, but like the cover as well as the original. The S&G version's harmonies are amazing, but not this powerful.

Sing from the gut, dude.

Sounds like softly-sung cadence.

I'll march.

Good post!

I agree with those that do not like this version but as you can see from my signature I may be a little biased.

The singer definitely throws himself into it and gives it all he's got but to me he sounds angry, nowhere near the beautiful melody and tones of the original.

I respect your view.

Angry is not always bad. Sometimes it is moving and passionate.

p.s. The Boxer has and always will rule. It is one of the tunes of the ages that cannot be bested.
