well they claim it's to promote evolution and the big bang which would cause people to dismiss the bible as any type of fact. And cause people to believe the universe is billions of years old and that we were just some random event, chance, fluke, there for we have no meaning or relavenace. etc etc. Which actually does make sense. Althought I'm not saying that's how it is. As I just don't know really. But it's one theory.

The first documented people to say the Earth is a sphere were the ancient Greeks around 500 BC. This is long before the Bible was written, long before the birth of Jesus, and 2500 years before the theories of evolution and the Big Bang. People have been believing in a round earth throughout that time, including the time of the rise of Christianity and the splintering of Protestantism: en.wikipedia.org...

So that part of the argument really doesn't hold up, does it?

I think they're afraid of you learning modern science.

Having a "purpose in life" really limits you. If you achieve that purpose (wherever you get the information from) then you're limited to just that. If you can't achieve the purpose then you're a complete failure. If you never "find a purpose" then you're also a failure.

But if you think that your purpose in life is whatever you want it to be, then you are able to achieve a lot more. Of course, that means you're not following the dictates of someone or something and that if the purpose isn't working out, you can have a different one. Or multiple ones. Or one at different stages of life.

the mere fact that this post is needed is a damming indictment of < cencored >

ok - here goes - the rebuttal to the concave earth claim :

1 - over water line of sight and the horizon ,

a )explain why observer altitude affects the visible horizon ? -

b) further - explain the sunset // moon set and or rise .

c) lastly why can an telescope reolve stars at night right down to one degree - if the earth was concave - the lights of distant citties should be resolved - they are not

the concave earth claim is even more assanine than the flat earth claim - as it fails faster and in a more spectacular fashion

Is the earth flat? No, open a physics book, or better yet break out a telescope and look at the moon, no just go out side when the moon is full, blow a bubble, boil some water, look at a raindrop on a window. Sphere is a common shape that certain objects take on, under the right circumstances. You can also see the curvature of the earth if you are high enough off the ground.

Furthermore, I can not believe in the year 2016, that someone able to access the internet is questioning this.

First rule of conspiracy theories :
1. There is more BS than truth.
And when there is some truth it will often be molded into B.S.

I remember reading a physics debate online (one might beable to find it) about flat earth. I think there may be some clever people who are basically "trolling" by giving flat earthers some nice verbal ammo to play with.

You know what I think? God was shaking his head when men were writing words in his name and is shaking it now when listening to flat-earthers and needless to say I do not begrudge Almighty having a good laugh

I think its an effort to bring us back to simpler times and the claims made then.

Crazy is free also. People like free.

EDIT TO ADD:
am I the only one who saw the "proof" video and thought it sounded like a Nigerian scammer?

LOL. It cant be that simple.....Nigerian email sammer gone pro?

If the Earth is flat...then Antarctica must be an ice wall or something...with possibly another advanced human race living on the other side?

(just a theory I heard, anyone else?)

it makes no difference what people may or may not " have heard " or any allegationms of " ice walls " or " land beyond

the bottom line is that flat earth claims cannot reconcile multiple observations that are :

repeatable and testable

the flat earth claim simply fails

ice walls and " other lands " are irrelevant

Flat Earth is about as real as the tooth fairy. The theory has been weighed and measured and kicked to the curb many, many times.

I would love to see the statistics of how many people payed a subscription or fee to learn about flat earth, could be a good money spinner

You are completely missing my point it seems. I was simply saying that as flat Earthers deny any form of evidence whatsoever that the Earth is indeed a sphere then a bowl shaped Earth would be a valid claim (for them) to resolve the problem of Johannesburg-Perth...

Sheesh!

actually you do raise an critical point - IF [ hypothetically ] teh earth was flat

then it raises the issue of stability and the requirement that the earth be true on 2 axis

otherise - yes things would just roll off - esp bodies of water

No....an axis of four. This was all explained before....

Four elephants, count them, and a # ton of turtles. You have rock walls around the rim, so technically it would be quite the feat to even fall off. Those that have, have their relativities dependent which way they fall.

There are rumors that long ago humans survived the journey down. They are knows as the Argathians.

Do try to keep up.

I beg to differ. I agree with your post in that it's four elephants but I have to take you to task on the turtle comment. It is turtle related I agree, but there is only one. A sort of big one. And you thought space was big.
