Don't you call me crazy, my last thread got so much appreciation and one person even asked me if I would be their president

So if I am crazy then ALL OF YOU are crazy okay.

Listen

I am preparing to climb a mountain, alone, at night.

I have some serious stuff to talk to God about, yes I know you can reach out to God from a parking lot.

But climbing a mountain at night is so much more serious and in your face (God's face)

I am gonna give God a speech like it never received since at least 4000 years ago.

Hopefully God won't tell a bear and mountain lion nearby,

"Hey buddy, dinner tonight is on me"

(Points a finger)

"That way"

Why do you need to climb a mountain to talk to God?

As if you're closer to the sky god up there or something?

On second thought, if you get a chance will you tell him about my garden last summer? It didn't do as well as I would've liked it to.

Thanks.

I think it all depends on where this mountain is located.I just read about all of these
people disappearing in our national forests. It is never a good idea to go anywhere in
the woods or mountains at night alone.

Well aren't you a nice person and not a jerk

While others snicker, you bring up a valid safety point.

No worries

You know those stories about dangerous humans you hear

I am the worst one.

I WILL EAT A BEAR I COME ACROSS

I am not in a good mood, have you seen our civilisation yet ?

Are the acoustics better than in church?

Have some type of a hikers tracker on you.

Between the coyotes or the cougars or the raccoons, it's not safe.
Don't fall into any dens of hibernating bears either...

So do you think God will notice a crazy man climbing a mountain at night more than a a person kneeling in prayer ?

If God notices things like that...perhaps you should cut off your finger to show him just how serious you really are. God loves blood sacrifices from what I understand.

It's ritualistic, catalyzing the experience with real intent and action.

And there's nothing wrong with that at all. I'm curious to hear the results of the encounter, although these types of experiences usually don't lend themselves to words very well.

might i make a reccomendation - or 3 ?

one - instead of preparing your epic speech to your imaginary friend - check cloud cover and take benoculars and spend your time imerserd in the majesty of the night sky

two - know your route in poor vis // night - its too easy to find yourself heading for dangerous drops and trerrain you cannot negotiate

2b - map , compass , GPS + weather report

2c - head torch [ hands free ] and back up light - with batteries to last

three - good boots , warm clothes , water proofs + food , drinks and a storm shelter

mountains are unforgiving - and darkness complicates everything

plus - be realistic - demanding terrain @ night is harder than in the day - and needs better navigation

allow extra time

four - call out - someone you trust should know your route and schedule - and know how to initiate montain rescue callout if you dont return by morning

five - have fun - and dont take your " god " too seriously

And rituals have always been productive in speaking with God... right?

Been there done that. The mountain top you must ascend is within. No external mountain will ever be high enough. Sorry bud but you won't hear anything but the wind. By all means do it. It's incredibly beautiful and fulfilling but God is not there. You have a better shot at winning yesterday's powerball than finding any kind of diety up there. Climb mountains for you. Not for God. Also like other have already said be careful. Not worth dying over. Be smart and go up there properly. God doesn't care about your mountaineering endeavors.

I guess you mean well but as your name says you are indeed ignorant

And don't worry

Us folks who know about the creator also have access to night vision technology

It isn't just you people that read about technology

You'd better come back within a couple of days to let us know that you haven't fallen off a cliff, or into a stream or something.
