I don't think the poster has it confused. The professor in this thread is the one that has prejudice confused with racism.

Having said that, many have said we're all racist, but I disagree. I believe everyone is biased or prejudiced.

History of mankind is not pretty. Racism does clog the history books. And there are many races that suffered because of it. Asian, Middle Eastern, Native Americans and everyone from any location on Earth. Racism is not exclusive to the Black community and to make it a Black vs. White is insulting and does a disservice to all other ethnicitys living today. To stand up and say 'whoa is me' because of skin color while ignoring others who go through the same conditions makes you look small and irrelevant.

If you want equality then you must work for exactly that. By singling out a specific group and saying how hard you have it while ignoring the plights of others makes you just as bad as those rail against. Here is a question that must be asked, "How often are members of the Black community afraid of being deported?". I have friends and neighbors in that situation.

There is not a single person alive who could not cry about some injustice done to them. We all face challenges. Yes these challenges come in many different forms and are in no ways equal, however, as the human species we will never be and can never be perfect. Stop telling me how bad it is for you and instead stand above inequality, help others through their own challenges, realize that what you are going through is not exclusive to you and yours.

Yes, racism needs to go away and we need to realize we all belong to the human family. But let's end racism together and not through self-centered concern. Make this a debate for all races. For one to be equal, all must be equal.

Native Americans get mentioned a lot, and once again I feel it necessary to once again mention that a large part of why they lost is they were never one people and it was a fractured nation with various tribes at war with each other. If it were not for the fractured nature of native americans, and the perpetual state of war many native americans had with each other, they could easily have fended off a cross oceanic sea invasion in that day and age.

The truth is, many tribes hated each other, a thing europeans often exploited to the natives disadvantage. War and murder existed just fine and in abundance far before europeans arrived to rain on the natives parade.

The americas being a nation of peace pipe smoking natives singing their version of cumbaya until the Europeans showed up and reigned on their parade is a myth, always has been.

Truth there is very simple, Europeans came into a region with several tribes competing for land and resources. Entered into the same age old conflict and won, and that's the simple truth.

War is ugly, lots of crap happened I won't disagree. But that's what it was, a war of territory and resources no different than pretty much any other war over the same thing.
