If it's known that a gun is worth 25% more than market value, the market value will self-adjust to that new worth thus increasing the market value 25%... ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

This policy is unlikely to work and is a waste of money. As I've said before, the firearm concentration in the US is already too high to effectively tackle.

So democrats often tell us that if we, as a country would just give up our nukes, all the other countries would follow.

Any bets on this.

This would only work toward some Utopian gun-free society if FIRST all guns are no longer sold anywhere, including the black market. Secondly there must be a law passed that a total confiscation is going to happen so you better get something out of it first. Third... never mind too many prerequisites that would be short circuited by a total armed revolution killing all politicians, their spouses, children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers in the most horrible ways.
