Tis true ... You do have to wonder if some of your newly arrived organized for mayhem and pull a France type event on you island... if that thinking might get changed.

I agree, no need to carry guns....people need to USE them, not just carry them...use them legally. If it's my life vs. my death because I was unarmed...I will arm myself as necessary, and defend my life, also as necessary.

There is no doubt that we Norwegians know that terror Assaults will come to us too. But usually the police are the thrid party at the seen 15 to 20min to late, after the initial Assault have started.

You never know where these Assaults will take Place and we cant put a police escort on every Norwegian and Public building in Norway. That just cant be done. So it doesnt matter if the cop is carrying or not. The police will be armed when the Call comes in.

Usually there are two cops to every copcar. Two cops wont start an Assault With their P-80s or MP-5s if they are the first at the location,..... if the terrorists are two, three or five With AKs. They are not very good odds for success.

The cops might not even be properly trained to ingage an Assault either. Most cops only have basic training in how to cope With one suspect.

About eleven years ago when NOKAS was robed in Stavanger. There were armed cops at the loctation. But they didnt stand a chans against the bank robers... one cop got killed by a AG3.

To ingage in a Assault against well armed terrorists you have to be strong in numbers, and properly trained. Two or Three armed cops at the location wont cut it.

Two or Three armed cops against one well armed and determined suspect might work.... if they hit him before he hits them.

We are in a very exiting times right now..... We are in bed With the US so our future will probably depend a lot on their progress :/

Dont think that way i am in no fear for my life and dont feel the need to carry a gun. Nor do I agree that we need to be in fear thats exactly how you are expected to feel. Its an easy way to control people, justify the illegal bombing of nations and instigate laws that take away your human rights for your own protection too....

That is true. Armed cops are hardly ever capable of stopping a mass shoting. Do to the fact that they are not there in time to stop it from taking Place.

That is easy to say when you are not being threatened directly.

I bet the People who were involved as victims of the Paris attack were very scared.

The problem you and the rest of the Public have is that you rely on that Your government will solve this problem before danger comes to you directly and you have to cope With it there and then on Your own. That sure didnt work out to well for the 128 victems who died in France who are just like you.

If you have notice anything about the supposedly mass shooting they mostly occur in gun free zones. I guess they need a bigger sign saying "GUN FREE" !

Actually someone with a gun (none LEO just a citizen with a CHL) stops bad guys all the time; just not national news . www.chicagotribune.com...

I think if Norway do this it could be a mistake, but I have the feeling this was meant to be implemented before Fridays attacks and will probably be reconsidered now.
