if ww3 did happen and everyone with nuclear weapons used them and by some chance people survived what would the internet look?

What Internet? The EM Pulses would fry the electric grid. Even if you managed to salvage your electronics in a Farraday cage, there would be no network for them for the foreseeable future.

Yup, no internet.
Just roaches and twinkies.
Maybe Keith Richards

the main cables run under water, they would be fine if you knew how to access them

Yeah, but those would be closed network Intranets, not for the likes of us radiated muties.

I think there will be less pop up ads after a while as things die down.
I'm sure ATS will be filled with official story shills trying to debunk the whole everyone's dead premiss.

Other than that, expect a lot of unbelievable deals on amazon. Hopefully the drones will still be able to get around for deliveries.

You never know, we might mutate to using telepathy and give birth to brainnet. Like Skynet just not in the, er, sky.

Its funny you ask if WW3 would effect the internet. WW3 is being fought right here, right now, through the internet.

wouldn't one piece of it getting blown up ruin the cable completely ?

"some" parts of the internet would survive server side but with massive damage to the network infrastructure
plus the lack of a viable power source a global system like we currently have would be gone
for a very long time.
and the survivors would have far more pressing needs than restoring it.
In all probability
any communication system would be for voice only and would be mostly surviving amateur radio gear
military radios and old school analogue telephone style kit.

This grid? Not a chance. They are transmission lines. It takes a LOT of CONSTANT energy to travel the length of them. The EMP's would be short non-constant bursts with the energy running out fairly quick.

VHF radios. They are called HAM Radios and will make a big return. They'll be your servers...LOL.

You can get one in any decent radio shack type outlet. Real inexpensive...

Internet cables are far enough underground/underwater that they won't be affected. The good ol' ham radio would be the immediate communication form though. Breaker nine nine!

The cables may be underground. What about the power supply for those cables??

For that matter the power supply to the computers themselves? Most would be powerless....
