Putin: 40+ ICBMs targeted for 2015 nuclear force boost

Over 40 intercontinental ballistic missiles will be delivered to Russia’s strategic forces in 2015, President Vladimir Putin announced at the opening ceremony of the Army-2015 Expo, an international military forum held near Moscow.

“This year, our nuclear forces are going to get more than 40 intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of penetrating all existing, even the most advanced missile defenses,” the Russian president said, adding that the state would persist in paying specific attention to realization of a massive military rearmament program and modernization of the defense industry, Putin said.

40 ICBM's ,I am guessing they come equipped with nuclear war heads ? *COUGH*

Putin also boasted a new top of the line radar system capable of "beyond the horizon aerial target detection "

This all in response to the recent pledge from the us to bring F-22's jets to eastern Europe.

No doubt we are in another cold war /arms race , Let us hope this all ends peacefully .

your thoughts ?

I was reading about this earlier. Likely just another announcement between Russia and the US to hype up some tension. Eventually it will get back to Cold War status and there will be another stand off. Though this time I would not be surprised if one side actually sets it off.

Two bullies fighting each other will not end well for those in between or those on either side.

Let he who crosses the first border of another be the target of unlimited missiles.
Putin, you understand that? You think the US and the EU want to eat you up?
Exactly what is your thinking on this situation which you have instigated?

You can't win so you will go for broke?

Like Putin need 40 new nukes...he's already got 8000 odd.
What's another 40 in the scheme of things, other than a staged farce for the media?

May the Gods/Aliens/Elvis/anything -help us all if Hilary or Jeb get into the white house.
Does anyone think this US/Russia thing will get better with one of them at the helm?

I sure don't.
But hey look on the bright side,it might all be over before that happens.

Over 40 intercontinental ballistic missiles will be delivered to Russia’s strategic forces in 2015, President Vladimir Putin announced

During "coast phase" those forty plus warheads will be accompanied by 400 hundred decoys in order to defeat the anti missile defense, insuring at least some of the thermonuclear warheads will get through to their targets.

Not that there is any defense to speak of over the continental US…

With China being on the other side with Russia this latest toy might make a few heads in Brussels and Washington rethink all this posturing .

China this week carried out the fourth test of an ultra high-speed nuclear delivery vehicle that conducted what intelligence officials say were extreme maneuvers.

The test of the Wu-14 hypersonic strike vehicle was carried out Sunday, launched atop a ballistic missile fired from a test facility in western China.

It was the fourth successful test of the Wu-14 in the past 18 months and the frequency of tests is being viewed by U.S. intelligence analysts as an indicator of the high priority placed on developing the weapon by the Chinese.

Earlier tests took place last year on Jan. 9, Aug. 7, and Dec. 2. The Washington Free Beacon first reported the tests.

The new strike vehicle is considered a high-technology strategic weapon capable of delivering nuclear or conventional warheads while traveling on the edge of space. One of its key features is the ability to maneuver to avoid U.S. missile defenses.

The Wu-14 was assessed as traveling up to 10 times the speed of sound, or around 7,680 miles per hour.

We humans,it seems are a species where crazy people rise to the the top of the pile and dominate the rest of us.
Our "leaders" are the ones who have got us into the sad state where we are all paying for weapons designed to wipe out our civilisation.

Who except the crazy leaders would even entertain such an idea?
Not many i'll warrant.

What The Fornication is wrong with us?

So much science, resources, energy, man hours to work out more nasty ways of wiping each other out.
Imagine if we had spent all that money and effort in different areas-we could have eradicated poverty and had colonies on Mars by now..

What is wrong with us?

Sorry.I feel let down.We are supposed to progress as a species, and look at us.
A bunch of losers.

China is on its own side, It uses Russia on occasion but, never goes out of its way to help them. They have not even backed them in UN with this entire Ukraine debacle. Of course the fact that Russia is selling weapon systems designed to harm China to its enemies does not exactly make things copacetic anyway. And China new interest Russia eastern former republics is not helping things either. China will use Russia and let Russia take the beating while they profit.

Just got real. Give me a break. I'm amazed that most of you don't get this at all. It has nothing whatsoever to do with waging war. In any nuclear exchange the winner knows that their country will be devastated to the point that it will implode from within. Much of their critical infrastructure will be laid waste and be economically impossible to be replaced. Industry will be gutted. The remaining government will be unable to manage and care for its populace. And that is the winner. The world economy will collapse. This is all about justifying the acquisition of $billions of materiel. Money that the powers behind-the-scenes will make. It's simply a market move. Just like hyping a n anthrax scare so someone's pharma can sell a boat-load of Cipro.

If the UK can restock trident I don't see why Putin can't. The posturing by our leaders over Ukraine is somewhat hypocritical given the wars we've recently caused and I don't think their constant attempts to play childish tit for tat games and push Russia's buttons does our people any favours or makes the world safer for any of us.

I'm no fan of Putin at all but it was obvious as soon as the BRICS bank was unveiled that it was gonna hit the fan eventually. Can't go after China, too much investment in India and nobody would support creating tensions with Brazil and South Africa who haven't done anything to us. It seems the IMF and World Bank really dislike competition, maybe enough to kill us all.
