Need to mention a couple of facts.....Middle eastern, Mediterranean and Turkish are all ethnicities of Caucasian race.

And even though this will shock so many Americans, other countries cannot fire on other land's territory because that would be a declaration of war ya know, that is why Turkish army can't do nothing but watch and stand by.

Firstly , Nato is rather made up of ALL of Turks historical enemies .

It was either NATO or Warsaw Pact and Turks have choosen USA over Russia , almost 50 years ago .
The reason for this choice is clear , Turks never had a serious war with USA in their history . USA was a late comer to the scene , so to speak.
Turks have had wars against many other NATO nations in the past millenia . Old enemies are just that , old enemies .
For the reasons above Turks have sided with USA / NATO .

Today's NATO - the European side - is full of old enemies of Turks .

Turkey is NOT guilty of aiding & abetting ISIS . On the contrary Turks have warned USA to NOT leave those weapons in the hands of locals that it would be a disaster to do so for EVERYONE involved .

But then again Turks also warned USA to not invade Iraq but topple Saddam with some other means .

To ISIS , the majority of Turks are infidels and needs to smitten to death by beheading .

To some Turks , it is true that they have nice view of ISIS but these Turks are less then 1 % of 80 million people.

Bottom line Turks don't want a Sharia practising nation to their south - east - the longest borders of Turkey with Iran - Iraq - Syria .
Who bloody needs another Pakistan & Afghanistan border in the ME ?

Turk don't need it for sure so it is not in their interest to support ISIS .

Turks support Free Syrian Army and has offered a plan to USA to deal with the situation ; namely , a joint operation to ged rid off Assad first and ISIS second .

Majority of people in Turkey care not what religion a person is as long as that person is decent , good , hardworking individual.

Christians and Turks go waaaay back , to the crusades and beyond.

As for Greeks & other Christians , there was a voluntary exchange of population and killing on both sides . In Crete , it is estimated that the island 38 % population of Turks were totally exterminated . NO Turks live in Crete ever since.
