In another round of action against erring non-profits, the government has cancelled the licence of another 4,470 organisations. But surprisingly, the list includes a number of top universities, Supreme Court Bar Association and the Escorts Heart Institute, which bars them from receiving foreign funds.

In April, the licences of nearly 9,000 NGOs were cancelled for alleged violation of FCRA. The Centre had also blocked Greenpeace India's bank accounts, following which the environmental group had to seek interim relief from the Delhi High Court. The government had also ordered that funds coming from the US-based Ford Foundation should not be released by any bank to any Indian NGO without the mandatory permission from the Home Ministry.

Well, this does look like BRICS nations themselves are acting on any of the NGO's which could be under foreign influence. We already know how powerful they are and how tactfully they can be utilized to cause civil disorder. Acting on Ford foundation directly is also interesting because it seems like the current govt. is trying to limit the reach of Rockefeller and his cronies.

Ill do some research if China and Russia has tried acting on ford foundation. It would certianly give a clearer picture if Putin and allies are part of the western, builderberg globalist agenda or is in opposition to that.

Whoever thought of NGOs was a genius. You can use nations own democracy to destroy them.

Same danger exists for United States from billionaires like Koch bros and Warren Buffet.

Limiting or eliminating the apparatus of a possible 5th column within your country would be a good thing .These agencies will be hard for the west to replace .At present the neo-cons are running the show and they seem to lack the creativity . They have reached into their old tool box but doing that gives you a MO. The time will come when the last cog in the BRICS apparatus is in place and then it will be past the point for the west to act in and capacity .

And there shall be great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Bwah-Wah, to the current control freaks.

Who can blame the rest of the still free nations of the world for rebooting their software, their currency and kicking out the meddlers.

This is a very hard topic for me because while I recognize that some NGOs but more so government development agencies have been used for intelligence, especially during the cold war, most have not and actually do very important work.

I work with poverty and NGOs, both internationally and domestically, so it's very important that people on here do NOT attempt to generalize them all.

Also, things like the Clinton Global Initiative and Ford Foundation are not "NGOs," but "foundations." Foundations are more known for some of the issues this article is discussing.

Having said all that, I recognize that some of the covert ops various governments have done, including using real NGOs or real programs as covers to get into countries, is very problematic and other governments should keep an eye out for that.

Lol.... NGOs have existed long before they were used by intelligence agencies. Besides government agencies virtually all non-private sector entities are NGOs. That includes almost all charities, churches, private schools, etc.

Almost all of them have the same tax code: 501c3

There are really only three categories: Government, private sector, NGOs/Foundations. Sometimes people put Foundations as a fourth category.
