Nucular vs. Nuclear

Nucular is an American thing i am guessing , they also spell colour colar i believe , again who is right . But there is one word that really peeves me . It is not bloody alooooominnum , its al u minium . If Chadwickus was to throw his spear up north , guess what , it would bounce of iron ore or hit bauxite , we claim pronunciation rights .

You know... the whole nucular thing traces back to a George W speech. Seriously. I think it's a conspiracy. George W had a moment - and then the entire history of a word was altered, ala Orwell, just to cover how dumb George W is.

Bush's usage may represent a calculated effort to appeal to populist sentiment

Turns out, people have written papers on old Georgey's use of the word nucular!

When we look at the etymology of the word nuclear, it makes a whole lotta sense!

'Cause God know it friggin' counts how you pronounce a particular word and who gets ego points for claiming one nation is completely stupid for not pronouncing it the same way. I say "can't" that rhymes with "paint" and if you don't....well, that just proves I'm better..

English is such a terrible language linguistically really, like who the hell thought the word rendezvous should be spelt like that?? My local rubbish tip is on Rendezvous rd, so I spent a long time, into my early teens, saying it how it was spelt! What a newb

I suspect rendezvous may be a French word we just couldn't be bothered to translate.
That would certainly account for the awkwardness.
