Lets just hope they havn't figured out a way to shut down the power grid,or overheat nuke reactors..
If that happens, the US would be destroyed without them firing a single shot.
A week or two after the lights go out,the US would have torn itself apart from within.

Hopefully they don't have the knowhow on how to do that.

Agreed. There seems to be a great deal of bravado on here that we're dealing with a technologically weak opponent, and most likely a correct assumption. But if they are assisted by an interested party who would like to see us squirm, say China or Russia, that's when it could get ugly.

Maybe they are going to attempt to knock out the FCC's 511 (May 11) service nationwide.....no weather or traffic updates would make my day miserable....LOL! Or maybe knock the FCC out in general....now that would be some hacking......

I bet they are going to use some knocked up version of the STUXNET virus or part of it (the code has been in the wild for a long time now) and screw up a bunch of micro controllers all over that are vulnerable. People map these vulnerabilities all the time if they go large scale it would defiantly throw a spanner in the works

I wouldn't be laughing about the Isis threat, let us not forget how a bunch of rag tag cave dwellers turned this country upside down on 9/11. Isis, Al Qaeda, whatever name you put on the boogeyman is a big problem when you have the worlds most powerful people pulling their strings.

One more thing to add in here, though not nuclear related....with all that is going on in the UK over the PM elections.....this is also the date (May 11) of the only assassination of a British Prime Minister in history.....Spencer Perceval.

You mean some PR team working for a government entity will pretend to be ISIS and deliver a message?

Anyone can claim anything on the internet, look at Anonymous.

We are really being fed a lot of fear by the media outlets lately. Any time there's a concerted effort by the mass media to influence the people to think a certain way, my brain tells me that there is an agenda afoot -- and to look the other direction.

The media is being told to sell fear of domestic terrorism and "lone wolf" attacks. I wonder if this has anything to do with the Patriot Act being up for renewal, and all the other legislation that's been put forward to neuter it?

There are a lot of people in positions of power that would stand to loose quite a bit if the Patriot Act was taken away from them. These same people are also fully capable of justifying their positions of power by spreading fear, a fear based on "social media" that is nearly impossible to prove.

Im wondering if its a good idea to discuss all the different ways this could go down? I know they probably already thought of all these possibilities...but to talk about them here?

It's only bad if someone here gets one right....then I would imagine a bit of scrutiny would be applied to this subject on ATS.

Has anyone read about the threats to London? They look a little more dangerous and maybe the 'online' attack is a decoy?

I know what page it is but Twitter updates have proceeded many attacks...

If ISIS has to get their ideas on how to destabilize a country from ATS thread hypotheticals, we have nothing to worry about.

Yes, I would say by the number of threats and pics of firearms and explosives being posted today that they should definitely keep an eye out in London.....apparently Covent Garden is what is being tweeted as the location to stay away from.

Ya, I was reading about the London threats earlier. Maybe while everyone's attention is on the possible US hacker threat, they'll hit London.

I think that for all you saying that what could they do, underestimating your enemy is dangerous and possibly deadly.

With the amount of recruits these animals are pulling in from around the world, there is nothing to say they don't have some people who are very capable of causing mayhem through cyber attacks.

I would think a group like ISIS would have already formulated a plan for an attack today, rather than wait until last minute and hope they get a good idea off of this thread. js

Well, okay then. Even if something does "happen" it will have to be perped by the same people warning us about it.

I think they learned their lesson after the Sony / North Korean link post hack.

Its better to lay blame beforehand. Afterwards, anyone could have done it.
