Let me interject some figures into the discussion.

Personally I do not think he is solely responsible for 100K in damages at best he may have cause 10K but even if it is 100K think about this.

Just the annual incarceration cost per inmate in Marland averages 32K if you multiply that by 8 years you get 256K.

It would cost the taxpayer at the very least 256K just to lock him up for 8 years.

So who is being punished him or the taxpayer? Doesn't that seem like it would make a bad situation worse?

No it's not, because he's not being charged w a felony.....

No misdemeanors carry a life sentence

He was not charged w any felonies

Sorry it is you that are wrong.

Maryland State sentencing guidelines

Page 29 line 218. Misdemeanors can and do carry a life sentence.

And in this particular instance Page 18 line 128 for rioting.

He's facing charges right now:

Bullock faces charges of rioting and malicious destruction of property, among other criminal counts, after turning himself in at the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center with his stepfather, Maurice Hawkins, at his side.

He is not yet facing sentencing. However, life is a possible sentence:

The eight misdemeanor charges Bullock face are his first as an adult, with rioting carrying a maximum of life in prison.

Ergo, the article is misleading because it is jumping the gun, but it could end up being true.

How do you figure? No where in the title does it say he received life in prison. It says he faces a possible life sentence which is true.

I was shocked when I read the headline...but then I read the article:

His bail was so high, not because he broke a car window, but because he was charged with INCITING violence against police...which the article states at the bottom of the story.

His parents say that the teen was accused of inciting the clashes that started boiling over on Saturday, but they deny that claim.

I got a day in jail for my DUI, the cop drove me home that night so I didn't have to call anyone or take a cab. Had to pay about $2500 in fines. I certainly think what I did was worse in the grand scheme of things.

Read it again max 3yrs. Common law and the actual sub context are totally different

Again he's not charged w or even under threat of getting life.

If anyone read the damn article even the PARENTS admit that.

Sensationalism and dishonesty to further spur outrage.

If this is all the brain power we as a community can muster in times such as these it's no wonder our gov has taken control so easy.

In some states being convicted of the same misdemeanor three times can equal a felony. But on the initial charging document for a case it cannot be converted for three separate charges.

I could be wrong, you couldn't point me to that in Maryland could you?

These punk thugs belong there, and he has 8 charges and is responsible for 100k damage. If you shoplift for $100 you go jail, cry me a river of false rage.

Where did you get the 100K figure from?

I didn't see it in the article, but I may have missed it.

Are you trying to say that because it is anti police the stories it prints are untrue or are you just upset that it is anti police?

I'm saying it has a definite agenda, which accounts for the ridiculously misleading headline.

FYI the thread title is not the same as the headline of the article.

Anyway I am more concerned with the contents of the article.
