There is a great motivation to attribute racism to any interaction between law enforcement and anyone who is not obviously white.

So, if there really are no physically recognizable attributes with which to discern 'Mexican' from 'Caucasian', how can there be any racist intent? (At least with respect to motor vehicle stops)

There is, atm, i'm saying it wont demographically last, unless these freaks want to take it all the way to "no Brunettes" obviously "fresh off the boat Mexicans are distinguishable" but aside from language maybe 1/3 really aren't even from the get go, some are blond.

It's an odd thing but I saw this in NY, even when you come over olive, generation 2 growing up alongside caucasians are less olive.

I have actually seen a few studies on this,when women have children who aren't the fathers over the first months and years of childhood their traits will tone over to who they are around, not a lot, but a shade lighter of skin and eyes, very Black babies will lighten skin tone a bit over time slight difference will change... It's thought to be a protective trait so Fathers don't kill young that are not there own. In fact I was adopted into a Dark haired Jewish family, Platinum Blonde, light blue eyes, my hair today is Brown with dark Blue eyes, I have a few distinctly Jewish features

when you factor in the numbers

I live here, I know an unlimited number of second generation Mexicans and... you just can't tell they are Mexican very often, some of the above is the hypothesis as to why, but I see it all the time, 2 very Mexican/Native looking Mexican parents and kids who are that bit lighter, bit taller, speak perfect English and aside from the name you'd peg them at southern European of some sort and they inter date Caucasian, my son is in HS I see this every day...

Bottom line there is racism and then there is RACISM and these guys, i just... again if you can't deal with another romance language mainly European people your ridiculously racist, i can sort of understand not wanting your culture "radically changed" but all this genetic stuff aside... your talking about Catholics... it's just another branch of your Church and your talking about people mainly Spanish, this is 16th century Racism lol... they like Christmas and Jesus, what the EFF do people like Joe want?

Its civil and not criminal. Essentially they are being punished for refusing to comply with the courts order. In law enforcement terms its essentially the judges version of "contempt of cop".

Say what you will about Sheriff Joe but I have watched more than one program where the prisoner like him...they say he is tough but fair. He even let them watch the superbowl this year complete with cherry glazed popcorn. People don't like him cause he is tough and believes prison is prison and not a vacation. As for profiling every police department in the country is guilty of it...he just doesn't sugarcoat anything for anybody...he is old and will most likely leave soon anyway.

It's amazing how Arpaio continues to avoid any real punishment. Even when he gets busted the only thing that happens is the MCSO gets fined. Which all that means is the people have to pay for it. Arpaio and his cronies have cost the people from Maricopa County several millions dollars due to their flaunting of the law and Constitution. He's like a Mafia don. Well, when you have a presidential administration from which to learn (and to whose policies of not enforcing immigration laws you must react), what do you expect? Sometimes you fight fire with fire to get things accomplished. At least the things he is doing are seemingly for the greater good of the state that he is sworn to protect...not to mention it's his job to also enforce the federal laws, which include those against illegal immigration.

Where did this guy get Law Enforcement training and credentials...The SS Academy of Fatherland Security? Looking at his own self proclaimed "achievements", this guy actually flaunts being a sadistic, morally retarded and emotionally handicapped cretin. What I see is an old geezer who likes to blow his own horn, and is a complete media whore. What is the most sickening thing, however, is that this man has been permitted to continue to run for office, and that he has not been arrested or even dismissed for his blatant abuses of power, despite the fact the feds have repeatedly ruled against him. That is 3 administrations and DoJs that have failed to reign in this monster.

I have family in Arizona, at one time, some in Phoenix. One of them, my cousin's wife, even said that being brown is becoming a crime. She herself is black haired and brown skinned, and could be mistaken for a Latino. However, she is not. She was born and raised in a small farm town in Ohio, and her ethnicity is half Native American, half Italian, and her accent is clearly Midwestern. This didn't stop her from being harassed and grilled during one of this a**hole's "sweeps" of her workplace. (She worked as a receptionist/book keeper for a construction company, which employed some 40 or so people. And despite the raid, only one of those employees was an illegal). She has since moved to the north eastern region of the state, near the Navajo reservation where brown people are not considered suspect by Nazi cops.

Just goes to show, as per the growing trend of excessive force by LEOs and the lack of prosecution at local, state, and federal levels. that the government quietly endorses this behavior, and will look the other way. This isn't about justice, but petty vengance and abuse without proof or perspective. I used to love Phoenix, but until this POS and his ilk are removed from power, I'd never go anywhere near Maricopa county. I've already spent too many years of my life living in totalitarian countries, I don't need it here.

At his age, the best thing we can hope for is that the old fart croaks soon.
