I've starred and flagged your thread because Project Blue Book was an important endeavour. Black Vault deserves the attention too as Mr John Greenewald has given his all for ufology and FOIA requests for years.

Both of these endeavours deserve more than whatever you just posted for an opening post.

He's one of a small handful of researchers who have blitzed the authorities with FOIA requests and made every one of them available.

Your question got me to wondering. So I did a little investigating to see what I could turn up.

All of the material on the projectbluebook.theblackvault.com... website is a knock off of the document dump you linked from September 2014.

Now look at the changelog and look at the "Author" field. John didn’t have anything to do with writing any of the software.

John doesn’t mention anything about the original project in the interview. That right there says it all. It looks like John just downloaded the material, copied it to his website, and stuck “TheBlackVault” on every page.

So, yeah, of course there is no link to the free Bittorrent Sync copy. How would John make any money off of that? You can't put rows and rows of web advertisements and donation links all over a free torrent download.

Oh and this is just priceless- check out Alejandro's comment at the bottom of the openminds comment section. Alejandro openly admits he was aware someone else did all of the work of writing the software to get the 130,000 pages of documents, but he blithely dismisses his responsibility as a journalist - to ya know - mention this detail. "But, but, they wanted to be anonymous!" That is like Bob Woodward writing All The President's Men without mentioning Deep Throat. Is this a joke?

I guess Julian Assange should have never given any credit to Bradley Manning. Doesn't matter I guess if Bradley Manning was the one who actually retrieved the documents and suffered the consequences for it.

Now do you see why John isn't linking the freely available Bittorrent Sync link? And why he hasn't mentioned the original document dump in any of his press releases or interviews? John wants to monetize the other team's work.

I bet dollars to donuts if you ask John if he's sharing any of his site revenue with the guys who originally made the software and released all the documents. The answer is going to be a resounding no.

John Greenewald doesn't care about research, this is all just a publicity stunt to get traffic to his website. The Project Blue Book documents have been online for over a decade. Greenewald is trying to steal credit for putting this online and it is despicable. He's a really shady and underhanded guy, he obtained these documents through the hard works of others and tries to steal all the credit. The Black Vault is a horrible website, no serious researchers use it, it's just for looky-loos who think that Obama is a secret Muslim socialist, in other words the Black Vault is a website for complete nut jobs.

If this was the Watergate scandal, you just interviewed Bob Woodward and pretended you were interviewing Deep Throat. As a journalist, if someone wants to remain anonymous that doesn't mean you completely fail to mention your anonymous source and worse make no mention that the anonymous source wrote thousands of lines of open source software and spent *years* recovering the files.

I would also challenge how anonymous the original team was. All of the material was released online 4 months ago. Yet no mention of any of that in this article.

He's been applying through FOIA for years and publishing whatever he gets. I used to have several documents that listed FOIA requests to NASA and other organisations - Greenewald's name was all over them. In fact, his name was more common than anyone else.

People are focusing on Blue Book when it's only a small part of the content of his site. There's BS in the air as nobody seems to recognise the fact that Blue Book Archive preceded Fold and Xtraeme's work. Go ahead and contact Xtraeme and ask him all about it, you'll be surprised how wrong you are. Maybe come back and apologise?

Black Vault

He was the first to host all the MUFON Journals and they represent a great resource. Moondust and other project files were only hosted at Black Vault for several years.

All of you talking trash about things you don't know about, you do realize I worked with Xtraeme, as evident by the original thread on this topic, helped disseminate the original Torrent, and then I was the one who scripted the entire conversion.

But, by all means, go ahead and keep talking about something you don't know about.

The BT Sync folder includes all 94 rolls from T1206. The PBBA archives that you linked only covers rolls 1,2,85,86,87 from 1947 to 1954 partim and 1968-69. This is the entire known NARA archive.

To make it clear how huge of a difference this is:

There are over 129,491 pages in the BT Sync folder.

PBBA only has 56,323 pages.

And, a special thank you to Kandinsky for the kind words and attempt to fight the ignorance. Sometimes, it just isn't worth it.

Fold3 did not give you those documents otherwise you would not have had to use dishonest methods. It would be one thing if you were data mining the US Government, those are owned by taxpayers but you did it to a private website. At least you freely admit that you stole those documents. And now its all here in this discussion for the whole world to see.

I think you may be getting caught up in your own ignorance.

Then, once proven wrong showing you they got TOP spot on the credit list, you say I got the documents, and I "stole" them: "At least you freely admit that you stole those documents. And now its all here in this discussion for the whole world to see."
