Disappointed with this decision, they must have something on these companies and they're running scared. The U.S are looking into treating this as a major threat to national security. This will either blow over come early next week, or this could potentially escalate to something silly occurring.

The DHS source who said that there is, currently, important word, currently no credible evidence also admitted that it has become a National Security issue.

So what pray tell would they be telling Sony and not us? You are just creating narrative because you fear terrorism. Didn't you get tired of that spiel in the 2000 decade?

How the hell would I know.
Another assumption.
I don't live in the past.

Because they are cowards. Duh.

Without all the Intelligence, that's an assumption.

People die; it's a fact of life, but I'd be willing to bet against something happening in any case. You appear to like succumbing to fear.

Over Movies? Since when?
You appear to enjoy making assumptions in this thread.

You haven't said anything to sway my opinion

You opened this conversation up, not me... I have no intention of swaying anyone's opinion.
I'm here to share mine.

Appeal to emotion fallacy.

No just an honest opinion.
I don't appeal to no one.
Much less people online.

Would it not be better to cease making offensive sh#...
absolutely not. everyone is offended by something. cant please everyone and pleasing the dictator or people of an oppressive country by not releasing a movie in this country should be way down on the list. actually, it shouldnt be on the list

But to fully answer your question, it all depends on who is threatened & why?

If innocent people are being threatened because a Corporation give the green light to offend an entire Country...
I'd say it then the responsibility of that Corporation to do the right thing.
ok. so if it happens again with another movie youre cool with it? it really is a yes or no question.

I'm sorry but Hollywood trying to make a Political point is not as important as the people who could be affected.
i think the point would be we will not bow down and do what terrorist(or whatever term you want to use) tell us for fear of what might happen if we dont obey

SS agencies ignored the warnings of Cavemen coming to knock down buildings with Airliners...
And they sound more of a non-threat than a group of nefarious hackers who brought a MultiBillion Dollar Corporation to its knees...imo.

its awesome to know that all it takes is a hacker group threatening people and we will bow down.
thats just fantastic

I'm hearing rumors.

Maybe the White House/DHS put the screws to the movies.

They fear backlash from the secret U.S./North Korea trade negotiations.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

Someone may be trying to tell us something. Like maybe this is just the tip of the iceberg.

And nobody said you would.

What has that got to do with Sony removing one film from the annual amount to protect innocent people?

kim jong un is the closest thing north korea has to a jesus. in terms of authority anyway. people were getting pretty upset about iron skies 2 revealing a machine-gun toting jesus just a few days back...thats kind of how korea feels about this movie.

Never heard of Iron Skies, but I wouldn't mind seeing a gun-toting Jesus.

Look, we have memes on top of memes, .gifs out the yang of everything under the sun that ANYONE with tender widdle feewers can find offensive. Don't we have an avatar with beefy Santa & beefy Jesus duking it out somewhere on ATS right now? I know I saw it, and it probably rubbed a bible thumper the wrong way (too bad for them) A movie is the last straw? Get real, if something was that offensive to the religious, to the North Koreans, they'd zero in on more than just the damned movie to try to put an end to it. This is just a "because we CAN" thing. They're putting the kibbosh on a film because they can, if they whine & screech enough with enough hollow threats.

It's time for someone to make a gay porno with one of the Kims (or...all...ew) and Jesus. Offend every weenie at once and get it over with. There IS life after simpleton tears & rage, folks.

I do not need Sony or anyone else telling me what I need or do not need for my 'protection'.

If I want to go see a film I will go see it based on my own self-determination.

You can make YOUR decisions however you like.

I believe MY version of free speech is more in line with what it actually means than your version. But it's probably not easy to see it very clearly when you're hiding under the bed.

Believe whatever you want.
How very grown up

I'll let you know when the "ALL CLEAR" is given.

Ridiculous.

Good enough for me.

You made the assumption that the government was telling them more than they told us, so while we are playing the guessing game I figured you should just go all in.

Without all the Intelligence, that's an assumption.

It's also an assumption to say that they know more than we do. Two way street buddy. I'm going to go with what we currently know, which says that you are fearmongering.

Yes, you shared your fearmongering opinion then call me assumptive when I called you on it. I'm arguing with all the known information, YOU are providing a narrative that doesn't have the evidence to support it, just your suspicions (which even they are unlikely since the DHS has said there is no credible threat).

No just an honest opinion.
I don't appeal to no one.

Whatever. It's still an appeal to emotion fallacy. You aren't appealing to anyone with that fallacy. You are appealing to someone's emotions to get a rise out of them to support your cause.

Do they not deserve protection?

Or do you know of a special cinema that only shows 1 film?

Interesting that NK didn't hack China over this:

I guess the moral of the story here is those assisting NK in their hacking and threats are allowed to demonstrate what a horse's ass Dear Leader is, but the rest of the world had best not tweak the runt's nose or E-tantrums will ensue.

Maybe we can just bubble wrap the entire nation to reassure you that everyone is 'protected'.

I live ten minutes from Manhattan and I am there frequently. Times Square is a top terrorist target and I see HUNDREDS of children there every single time I pass through. It is an intended target of a group that actually killed Americans, they have a REAL track record.

Maybe someone should call Family Protective Service on all those irresponsible parents.

Or maybe we can just live our lives freely and not in fear of what MAY happen.

Well, considering Rule 34 (if it exists, there's a porn of/for it) I wouldn't doubt it if there is. My husband could probably find it if it does, lol.

Seems like the parents who are scared should probably keep their children home from the movies. We've never had a foreign terror attack on a theater... but James Holmes... no publicly declared threat... eh.

In fact, almost without fail, when a terrorist organization comes out and tells you what they're going to do beforehand, the result is bulls..t. They are a lot like a little kid in a playground fight in that regard. Never worry about the loudmouthed pants wetter who ran low on oxygen flapping his gums about how bad he was going to lay a beating down on you. Their hot air carries the reek of cow flops and cowardace. The real threats don't tell you what they're going to do until after the fact, when they state what they've already done to you.

If the DHS have deemed this a National Security issue, I'd say it's pretty much common sense to assume we don't know all the information about this situation.

Whatever. It's still an appeal to emotion fallacy. You aren't appealing to anyone with that fallacy. You are appealing to someone's emotions to get a rise out of them to support your cause.

No it's not.
& It's not a cause, it's an opinion.
I couldn't care less if people share the same sentiment as me.

Team America. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Death of a President.

People died over these films?
I'd appreciate a source so I can change my position on that.

I'd counter that by saying the Cavemen in Afghanistan did certainly follow through with their loud mouthed ambitions.

& that's the whole reason why these threats are no longer ignored, or deemed to not be serious, by the higher ups.
