Ecuador Family Wins Favors After Donations to Obama Campaign

"Define Bribery: Bribery- The offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of something of value for the purpose of influencing the action of an official in the discharge of his or her public or legal duties.

Lobbying is nothing but bribery as well, but "legalized".
Lobbying- The process of influencing public and government policy at all levels: federal, state, and local.

MIAMI — The Obama administration overturned a ban preventing a wealthy, politically connected Ecuadorean woman from entering the United States after her family gave tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic campaigns, according to finance records and government officials.

The woman, Estefanía Isaías, had been barred from coming to the United States after being caught fraudulently obtaining visas for her maids. But the ban was lifted at the request of the State Department under former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton so that Ms. Isaías could work for an Obama fund-raiser with close ties to the administration.

American diplomats began enforcing the ban against Ms. Isaías, blocking her from coming to Miami for a job with a communications strategist who had raised up to $500,000 for President Obama.

What happened next illustrates the kind of access and influence available to people with vast amounts of money.

For more than a year, Senator Robert Menendez, a Democrat from New Jersey, and his staff engaged in a relentless effort to help Ms. Isaías, urging senior government officials, including Mrs. Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, to waive the ban. The senator’s assistance came even though Ms. Isaías’s family — a major donor to him and other American politicians — does not live in his state.

The Obama administration then reversed its decision and gave Ms. Isaías the waiver she needed to come to the United States — after tens of thousands of dollars in donations from the family poured into Mr. Obama’s campaign coffers.

This family’s patriarchs, Roberto and William Isaías are wanted in Ecuador.

The two brothers were sentenced in absentia in 2012 to eight years in prison, accused of running their bank into the ground and then presenting false balance sheets to profit from bailout funds. In a highly politicized case, Ecuador says the fraud cost the country $400 million.

I am seriously tired of big money over ruling what is best for the nation for what is best for them.

The Bankers and the International Business leaders seem to control the world, many wars are being and have been fought over control of resources. Many laws have been enacted or changed to reflect the interests of one business or another. (Monsanto comes to mind)
Corporatocracy is alive and well in the U.S. of A.

But short of open rebellion what can be done.
Protesters are ignored or put down violently.
Boycotting Businesses does very little in a world wide market.
Our Police Forces are used against us primarily to generate revenue for the local or state government.

These "Public Servants" need to be prosecuted and made an example of and the lobbying laws need to be changed, but
Congress will not willingly change those laws.

Without money, no one has any voice or influence, that is just a basic fact. Government has become (or always has been) legalized crime. If things get out of control they will find a fall gut to take the hit and the ones truly responsible will go free and keep their cut. It will be someone low on the pecking order who is totally faithful or perhaps in some position they want to give to someone else. Loyalty is based on how much you can pay them for it, and it only lasts until the money stops flowing into their accounts or someone can offer more.

I guess they couldn`t find any legal citizens in the entire country to fill that position as a fund raiser so they had to look outside of the country for someone.How fortunate that someone who was caught fraudulently obtaining visas also just happens to have mad fund raising skills and is the most qualified person in the entire world to fill that position.

now that the republicans control the house and senate, this could be bad news for Obama.
