Technically isn't Time Bandits a Monty Python film? I know he's a major part of Monty but there are others there as well. I saw a small clip of that movie on the Daily Show or Colbert, can't remember but that trailer was way more interesting. I'll prob have to see that.

Battle at Beaver Creek, it was made by me, for 10 grand.
Is super indie, maybe you'd call it a B or C movie, but at least it's new, different and not crap.
It also features ATS!
Check out the in depth thread about it here
See you at the movies!

'The Time Bandits' is a great sci-fi fantasy film (time travelling dwarfs - doesn't get much better than that).

Also if you like sci fi short films then there's a thread here and 'The Gift' is very, very good - please feel free to add any.

The Time Bandits is completely one of the greatest movies of all time. I usually nearly cry every time Kevin is taken from Sean Connery/Agamemnon, who would have been a wonderful dad for the boy. But yes, filthy dirty, singing dwarfs beating each other around the head and travelling through time to rip folk off.

It's got it all

I am going to watch that today. I heard bad things but I dont listen to people when it comes to film or TV. People drool over what idiots make popular. Interstellar looks good enough to try with no reservations in mind.

I just saw a trailer after the one you posted. I am all excited and nervous now.

check this out.

Jupiter Ascending

That looks like one of the best SCI-Fi movies this decade. The cast is outright excellent. The production looks like it will spare no expense. The story itself could be infinitely good. This story is exactly the sort of thing that gets people interested in Sci-Fi.

Looks half way decent, and it not being a sequel is another plus.

Anything adapted from Phillip K Dicks, novels or short stories, here are some of his credits:

Blade Runner
A Scanner Darkly
The Adjustment Bureau
Total Recall
Minority Report

And there are a lot more! The books and stories are FAR superior, especially A Scanner Darkly.

1) Cube (the first one was outstanding, down hill afterwards I felt).
2) Logans run (SF a bit dated but otherwise quality sci-fi).
3) Watchmen (the best comic book conversion EVER).
4) When two worlds collide (again a bit dated, but oscar wining SF for its day)
5) Village of the dammed (even got a parody in The Simpsons)
6) And anything made before Hollywood re done or re made (The Thing, Invasion of the body snatchers, the day the Earth stood still etc...).
7) oh and just for old time sakes try Buster Crabbs 'Flash Gordon'. Loved watching those as a child during the summer holidays......hope this is of some help

Big fan of SCI-FI myself. The two films that stood out for me lately were Guardians of the Galaxy which is a combination of comedy and sci-fi and I Origins which suits well for ATS, kind of spirituality vs science theme
Both definitely worth watching...

Just wanted to add a recent movie I saw.

CHAPPIE

This is a fantastic movie set in the near future. Robotic police force, AI, and starring the musical group DIE ANTWOORD.

Production is a 10 out of 10. Has some GREAT big names like Sigourney Weaver, Hugh Jackman....

Its a really cool story too.

Check it out.

Oh, and die antwoord killed it. Only more of a reason to love them!

EDIT TO ADD:
It reminded me of short circuit. It was REALLY funny like that. The whole AI thing was reminiscent of it. Great ass movie.
