No kidding. I better let my husband know that, black being his favorite color & making up the bulk of his wardrobe's color choices.

My heart goes out to Canada, this is like someone beating up the neighborhood girl-next-door if you try to give it a person-like parallel (though I bet someone else could find a better way to put it)

Listen, my beloved Canuck neighbors, don't fall for the nationalistic ideology bait. Don't fall for it. If you do, you become America, and that's not a compliment. Don't be cold, paranoid, xenophobic a-holes like America has become, fight to keep your humanity. It's a characteristic that you're known for & it would be a colossal shame to lose it.

All they said was "heavily guarded." And yes, MajesticEsoteric, here, that would mean armed.

One moment you are just standing there doing your job and the next some neanderthal shoots you dead. Where the hell people get the idea they have the right to randomly shoot someone. Makes me mad. I don't even think this is a real isis supporter judging by that scarf they say he is wearing, probably a wannabe loser.

Actually, the only person who's been confirmed dead was one of the shooters... But I get your point.

Canada just sent F-18's to help battle ISIS/ISIL...

We are under attack. All defense systems should be actively on alert. There are planes in the sky. NORAD better not be on stand down this time around! Not trying to make this bigger than it is, but Canadians are part of NORAD.

PM has cancelled the Toronto meeting with Nobel winner Malala Yousefsi scheduled for this afternoon.

I would bet that is the reason for this attack today.

I dont disagree, methinks muslim extremists have a tendency to fight to the death, not flee, I was just noting the colours and recent events (Harpers push against ISIS) coincide well

And ?

ISIS just beheads journalists in response.

They don't go on shooting sprees in the west.

Good to know. Do they have metal detectors there in government buildings like they do here in the US?

Woah, crazy news!

Guy on Fox just said Norad keeps a fleet of fighter jets at the ready?

So now they're saying they just burst in. I guess the guards were helpless in the face of armed intruders.

CNN just verified the guards manning the metal detectors are UNARMED. Guess that's going to change.

This could be a diversion. There may be more coming. That's always a possiblity.

Muslim extremists have a tendency to go after civilians.

Not governments.

That is their standard operating procedure.

IT's terrorism 101.

Article mentions that the guy who did the shooting in parliament hijacked a car on the street, drove it up to the doors, ran in with his double barrelled shotgun. Probably all happened insanely fast

I live and Ottawa and i've been following this closely.
First report I heard initally was from a guy who actually saw the shooter outside. There were two person wearing headscarves, one with a shotgun who hijacked a car. This eyewitness said that the shooter looked like a native american.

They're saying that there's maybe 3 shooters.

Confirmation from Kevin Vickers himself: the shots heard in the video were from him shooting the gunman. Vickers is fully uninjured

I thought I had heard that they were unarmed....guess I'm not losing my mind after all.

And yes, that will most certainly change.

More little Tidbits of Info.

Montreal City Hall and CBC Ottawa have both been placed under lockdown.

victims?

More than the soldier?

Thing is we don't know how many, but someone besides a gunman was shot inside the parliament building I believe.

Edit to add: CBC reports three admissions to hospital from the shootings.
