For those who may not know, the following commercial introduced the Macintosh.

Although it ran once before, its predominantly known for its airing during the Super Bowl on January 22, 1984.

And what do we have today...

Apple turns ‘Big Brother’.

Big Brother in your back pocket: What you need to know about your iPhone tracking your location.

Big Brother, Is That You?: Apple Now Tracking The Location Of You And Your Devices.

Has Apple Officially Become Big Brother?

Is Apple the New Big Brother?

Maybe the following ad would be more appropriate:

How could any person be so ignorant and deluded that such a feature seems like a good idea.

Another irony is that now many people willingly dress and look like the slaves in the commercial.

Shaved heads, drab and baggy clothing, mouth breathing, blank expressions on their faces.

80s fashion had its goofy trends. But we didn't look like slaves:

Today's fashion is more like a mash-up of the trends of the past four decades, at least based on the observations of this non-trendy person whose own youth is waning.

The "slaves" our society has created don't have one look. Most of the blank-faced, mouth-breathing slaves I see are fashionable... twiddling with their smartphones incessantly while they watch TV and eat plastic trays of frozen "food" from the microwave.

Heres the thing: none of you need an iPhone. Or a "smart" phone. Or even a phone at all. Its your CHOICE to buy these things, support the aggrandization of an international corporation, and lose your privacy in the process.

All for a cheap 2 dollar trinket that you bought for 500 because of the spell youve put yourselves under, that its cool, that youll be left out if you dont get it, that you wont "fit in" with the rest of the unthinking moronic herd.

Apple isnt turning anyone into slaves. They have no power over you. YOU are turning you into a slave, willingly slipping on those shackles of perceived convenience and "need", and willingly tearing down all the walls that gave you your privacy. No ones done it for you, or to you.

Personal responsibility. Lets start taking some, and maybe then we can all break free of our own delusions that someone else is in control, and realize that we are the ones that have always been in control, and can change whatever we want, if we will it.

Nice, just try getting a job interview, doctor, ems, police, etc without having one. Sure if your house is on fire you can run down the street yelling "fire!" but somehow I don't think the fire department will hear you, think.

Hilarious...I was actually in that ad, front row far right, most all the extras were London skinheads, if I remember rightly it was directed by Ridley Scott.

Exactly right, I carry a 30$ phone... does the job fine.
I see many youngsters, always complaining they have no money and then pull out a 600$ phone

Mine was $49 and is a windows phone a smartphone. Paying less has zilch to do with it, but try to survive without any phone, no job for you, no money, EMS, no FD, no police, and most don't sell older models of phones anymore, only smartphones.

Youre reply has nothing to do with what I was trying to convey. Youve fundamentally misunderstood the point of my post.
