Only in America would there be so much hate and ridicule and SPIN for someone who showed emotion for his country's flag.

I doubt there is another country that if you posted the American flag over there's you would not be treated with extreme prejudice and most likely a lot worse.

The only thing that this thread has shown me (along with a video of a righteous old vet getting a little emotional ) is that the shills and trolls are alive and well bashing America and the people that display emotion towards its traditional belief's.

I disagree I see a old dude doing a criminal act, doesn't matter a bit If it is a flag of the US or Iceland or anywhere.
The mexican has every right to fly his flags the way he wants.
The vet has denied him that going against everything he has fought for.
Sorry dude don't become like the Christians and say that the Americans are being persecuted...doesn't wash with me.

What wash's with you doesn't matter to me and what does this have to do with Christians ?

There is a flag code but it is not enforced, it is there to be respected....obviously not by people like you.

When all you do is defend who ever wants to demean someone else's country with disrespectfully displaying there flag to demean the home country's flag.......well its not hard to see what your agenda is... dude!

It's not all of them mate, many are saying what this guy did was criminal and some are as bemused as we are.
But yes, the attachment to the flag and the insane "patriotism" to the point of condoning criminal behaviour because he's "one of us" is just scary and would not happen in the UK

We're too chilled out here and nobody really cares about flags... unless it's world cup or something

Even then all flags are welcome and appreciated.

These nutty, right-wing-stab-you-in-the-face-for-flying-our-flag-wrong guys are scary and are not a tiny minority, but there are still a lot of good, decent, respectful and chilled people in the US.
They can't help that they have these *bleeps* there.

No agenda what so ever, you have kinda proved my point thinking just because I disagree with trespass and destruction of personal property you deem me all anti USA..I'm not. The Christian thing is that they think they are being all persecuted etc all the time and you are an American who thinks Americans are also persecuted when they are not...I thought Americans were above trying to play the sympathy card..oh well.
I just think this is all pointless.
The Mexican dude did not show disrespect at all If he did he would not have had an american flag up and just the Mexican one up.

Just checking in to see that this thread is still going. At about 75 flags and 17 pages. The original thread (when this initially happened) had 5 flags and 3 pages of posts. Maybe there were multiple threads back then and I only found the smaller one. Or...wonder what the difference is between then and now.

Don't get me wrong, if it's the world cup and I saw someone flying an Argentinian flag, I would definitely say he's braver man than I haha but usually it's a bit of friendly rivalry... I have seen it get a bit heated by drunken EDL thugs though.

It literally scares me how nuts they are about the flag, it's very worrying that they have been conditioned so heavily by the state, that they are willing to commit criminal acts... All to make sure it's flying a foot higher than every other flag?!?!?! Madness..

Absolutely.... the economy is screwed, nationalism is on the rise, unemployment rising.
People need people to hate, someone different, need an enemy.
Plus there's a socialist, communist, muslim Antichrist as president there now.

I once saw a middle eastern worker remove an old American flag from a pole outside a commercial office bldg. in wash dc. he removed the flag put it on his shoulder as he hoisted the new flag, I followed him and he took the discarded flag and tossed it in the dumpster behind his office. I walked right up , grabbed it out and said why did you dump it, he said its only a flag.. needless to say that middle eastern clown went home that night with no front teeth. regardless of the countries flag disrespect is the same everywhere. so if I saw a Mexican flag flying over my colors there would be one or two angry Mexicans ..tough luck..good job my fellow veteran

To be fair, I can kind of understand being upset about someone throwing your flag away... Flag etiquette can be crazy but actually trashing it.. slightly understandable.

However beating the man for it? What's wrong with you?! Is your indoctrination so complete that it can spark anger into you?? The US Gov don't need to put an electrical control switch in your head, they have one made out of fabric.

Seriously dude, that was another human being... I bet he was petrified.

Also, boasting about it?! Wtf... Like someones going to give you a high five for it?? People like you actually make me sick.

You have actually managed to piss me off, I never get pissed off... F**k this, I'm out... I don't even want to talk to people like yourself.

The difference is people have had enough.

We have been invaded while our leaders just try to figure out how they can get their vote.

We are paying for lazy people to lay around and hard working people get less.

You can despise your government and deeply love your Country.

We all realize this Vet committed a property crime. Totally not the point.

The point is many of us have had enough.

I cannot make you understand American's love for our Flag.

But, we love it. Some of us would willing give our lives for that Flag.

An uncountable number of American's already have.

I can't help thinking that simply explaining to this Middle Eastern chap that an old flag still deserved to be respected might have been a more appropriate response. He'd perhaps have agreed with you, not realising that he'd been momentarily unthoughtful.

Of course, that wouldn't have 'allowed' you to punch a foreigner and feel like an All-American hero. And you wonder why some people in the Middle East (and elsewhere) feel justifying in escalating their own violence against Americans and American interests. Jesus christ.

So nothing's really changed since 2007? Because this is exactly the way I and millions upon millions of others felt then.

What's really changed?

And you don't have to explain a damn thing to me. I'm first-gen American, from a family of immigrants, and all my family fought in wars and we of all people understand the meaning of all this.

Look, you're preaching to the choir. It's no exaggeration when I say that helping to expose mass social conditioning is my calling; my God-given purpose in life. It's much too big for any one person to fully grasp.

This flag issue is interesting because it exposes the affect social conditioning has on even ATS folk.

Yes, I'm fully aware the dark side of the United States, but you're attitude is part of the agenda. You are a victim of social conditioning, your attitude sirens the gap, and you've become part of the chess game. There must be understanding. You cannot change minds if people feel you're calling theirs moms, dads, brothers, and sisters stupid lemmings who died for an evil cause. You have to realize that these fallen soldiers died for an idea, an idea that so many people feel like the flag embodies, and this idea will be our salvation- God willing. If we can close the gap with understanding, then, because of what our soldiers fought for, the elite's plan will ultimately have backfired. What the soldiers fought for and what the elite agenda are different. The reality is that the elite abused our military. part of the great sacrifice our soldiers make is to be brainwashed. How can an effective military exist without brainwashing? The elites abused their trust, but the soldiers fight for freedom. The elites fight for domination. But that flag still means freedom to so many. If we can understand the perspective of others we can affect their thinking. We can wake America- again, God willing, and we can restore righteousness in America.

I too have succumbed to mass social conditioning in ways I still cannot understand. It's too big. And maybe my response to the flag issue is an automated response to some sort of emotional trigger. I don't care. Go veteran!

What's changed is people are waking up.

The part about explaining was to the many Brits on this thread.

They seem to have trouble with some Americans love of a piece of cloth.

Sorry for adding that in my reply to you.

No worries. In my view is that people were pretty much just as awake then. I don't think them being more awake or more people being awake would make this kind of difference. But like I said, maybe there was another thread back then I missed too. I just found it interesting to think about.

Love the cloth honestly we Brits do not care but I see much hypocrisy here in this thread and also from the Vet.
The Mexican is free to fly whatever flag he chooses, it is his right you may not like it but it is his right, it was not the vets right to trespass and destroy someone else property.
The vet went against the core principles of the USA freedom of expression.
So is it rights for USA born people only and not immigrants? or rights for all?.
If it is rights for all why are people moaning about this?.

I bet If a law came out in the states that you had to fly a flag you would be bleating about that..
