Oh my! You do realise you are stirring the pot. Pretty soon you will have posters coming on telling you how everything is hunky dory in America, that it is all business as usual, y'know, crooked corrupt financial deals, further demonising of Putin and Russia, gun and knife rampages...just an ordinary day in America amongst all the other delusions that country likes to believe in and peddle to the world.

Nice perspective. Guess what? If Europe wants to buy gas from Russia, it has to pay in roubles...not US dollars. The rouble will revive, and investors will see the wisdom in it all, as will other countries. Detaching from the US dollar is what will save global finance, and protect it from crooked American financiers and their other Western counterparts.

This article appears to agree with you.......

Why do they need to buy gas from Russia when the United states and Canada are willing to underbid, just to stick it to Russia? Besides, Germany has not yet decommissioned all of its nuclear reactors. Perhaps this crisis will undo the damage caused to the industry by Fukushima.

That will not be the reason why they sell the gas at a loss, but to ensure Western allies remain committed to the US dollar and petrodollar. Britain buys its LPG from the Middle East using the petrodollar, but eventually, when the dollar does crash, it will buy from Russia and pay in roubles. As will other European countries.

No matter how many times people trash America, no-one comes on and tells you that everything is hunky dory there. Haven't you noticed that yet? In any event, the topic of this thread is not America, it is Putin's Ukrainian war. (Ukrainian soldiers and "separatists" have fired on each other. Deaths have been reported. Putin's bloodless coup is now an insurgency.)

You have such great faith that the dollar will crash. Given how much China and the other major economies own in hard US currency and in US debt, how likely do you think they are to let that happen?

Actually, it is to some extent, because of America's involvement with the puppet Ukraine regime.

...it is Putin's Ukrainian war.

Please tell me that you are not seriously suggesting that Putin is at war with the Ukraine? When did this happen, when did it breakout? Apart from the Crimea, in which Putin used troops already in the Crimea, what other Russian troops are in the Ukraine? As far as I am aware, Russian troops are massed on Russia's Western Border with Ukraine, and are not in the Ukraine itself.

Perhaps, what you mean to suggest is that Putin has tooled up like Rambo and gone into the Ukraine on his own? Well, that's it then, world war 3.

I'm certainly not the only one. Many Americans believe the same.

Interviews with members of the militias occupying Ukrainian buildings and bases admit to being Russian.

No, being an abject coward, Putin would never do that. Instead, he has ordered young men to their deaths for his greater glory.

DJW001, what do you think would be a good name for this NEW Ukraine?

How about: United States of Ukrainian America? No?
How about: Ukrainian State of America?
How about: Independent Ukrainian State of America?

ahhh I'm not good at naming, why don't you give it a shot. . .

Europe is not going to let the USA tell it that it can buy gas at $10 due to a shortage if Russia is selling at $8 and the winter starts to move in.

Of course, at this moment in time, Western countries are ignoring the request of Russia to pay in roubles and I think are putting pressure on Putin to allow them to pay using the dollar, but Putin isn't having any of that. I hope he stands on principal, and stays true to his currency ambition, because other countries will eventually follow suit, and trade in their own currencies, taking a hit initially, but reviving ultimately. The world needs to end the reign of the petrodollar.

I dont think you understand Europe wont be buying gas from Russia thats the point there already looking for alternatives. The US and even Iraq will move in to fill the void. Ukraine has already shut off the gas going through them which supplied central Europe. So they are already shopping Russian gas is finished there only option is to sell to China but there is two catches one no pipeline one needs to be built. The second is China is going to rape them on the cost they can make up for China low balling them with quantity but that wont be for years because they would need a pipeline until than Russia will lose its shirt.

See the US had little intrest in Ukraine until Putin started playing with his military. This whole thing involved the EU expanding their influence arguably thats not good for the US but again doesnt matter they are separate countries and make there own decisions. Now as far as Puppets go thats exactly what Ukraine was to Russia. They have always considered them a puppet and wasnt a problem until the puppet cut its strings. But even than the puppet master still thinks he can control them through fear an intimidation like Russia's last threat its really getting to the point Kiev isnt scared anymore. And thats exactly what its going to take to get the Russian agents out the country.

"I think you're naive" (lol) to think that Europe will be buying gas from other places.
Simply that won't happen because price of the gas would sky rocket and along with it all other products.
We Europeans aren't stupid as much as you like to think we are.
People are already pissed around here, all we need is something like this to happen, and in a blink of an eye you'll see riots across the Europe.
So, thanks but no thanks, keep your gas, we will continue to buy cheaper from Russia.
