Thank you, but the complete lack of a response to my earlier point other than mud slinging already told me all I needed to know. I have no urge to sink to a similar level in response.

luxordelphi so are you saying that 5000 lightning strikes like in the Shasta area is normal? because nobody else seemed to think so.

Not sure who nobody else is, but 5,000 strikes during a day of heavy thunderstorms doesn't sound at all unusual to me.

For example:

11,000 strikes in the Bay Area on 20th August 2013

and

50,000 ligtning strikes electrify South Australia during a storm earlier this year.

and

there's a place in Venezuela that gets 40,000 lightning strikes per night

5,000 isn't all that many at all
