Of course people first, but with no real attempt to clean it up the environment will take the brunt of it.
Think the warm up should have helped some.

Was some story with people claiming that they have been complaining about the smell for a year. Never know what they will find, and the report will take months.

Let's just all hope the rivers and everyone involved come out ok.

Considering the containment wall needs a million in repairs my guess would be people have been drinking this contamination for a looong time. This could turn into a huge ordeal.

All the tanks would be inside a containment concrete, earth, plastic or some liner with a wall.
Tanks could have been leaking that long, into the containment.
Might find a emergency plan registered with your local emergency authority.
Let's hope it doesn't make Home Land Security any stronger.

How did this spill get into the drinking water of such a widespread area so quickly?

Up until now, even a doctor wasn't allowed to tell the public what the chemicals are that are used in frakking... we know one of them now.

Do you really have to ask that question? It's SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for big business to dump their wastes onto or into public lands - it's called externalizing costs. Business needs to pay to have their Wastes taken care of just like ordinary citizens do.

Do you dump your trash on your neighbors lawn? Well maybe some do....
