Ahnggk-
Jesus wasn't speaking of a physical church building. That "church" that even the gates of hell won't prevail is our hearts.

Well said, Couldn't have coined that phrase better myself. The true church isn't physical, it's spiritual.

That is some food for thought that you wrote. Well it isn't really surprising that isn't preached in the US. It seems we have a re-write on the very description of Jesus here. Anyway I came across this cartoon that pretty much describes the US depiction of Jesus at least in conservative corners.

Poor people leave very little environmental footprint compared to those who are not! Self-denial is part of following Christ - being a Christian! Self-denial and a range rover doesn't come together but self-denial, self-deception, and ranger rover does!

As in... they don't emit much methane?

Taking the environment seriously has nothing to do with religion - it's a practical matter of much crap we're prepared to offload onto the next generation. Whether you like it or not, we're already seeing the effect of poor environmental management. It's blatantly obvious with current global weather patterns - hottest summers followed by coldest winters, wettest springs, more frequent (and devastating) storms and associated flooding. It's damaging to human life, nature, and the economy.

And yet there are still people who argue that doing nothing is a viable way forward!
