"Establish a basic income guarantee for all Americans, similar to what is being proposed in Switzerland."

Marxist income allowances and 75%-80% taxes...in the US. yeah.

petitions.whitehouse.gov...

"A simple idea for eliminating poverty is garnering greater attention in recent weeks: automatically have the government give every adult a basic income."

"It’s exactly how it sounds. The government would mail every American over the age of 21 a check each month. That’s it. Everyone is free to do what they like with it."

www.infowars.com...

The Federal Reserve Inc. with its QE xeroxing scheme is used as a mechanism for a fascist managed economy.

Sheer stupidity.
Sheer damned stupidity.
It'll get votes for another term or two and then there will be nothing to buy with the printed government dollars because even decent and hardworking people will drop anchor and watch this parasitic bunch of scumbags crash and burn.

As the previous poster simply stated, "Sheer stupidity". I think that sums it up rather nicely. And exactly how do they propose we survive such a policy? I mean, really? Is it any wonder people from my generation (and than some) have an entitlement complex?

This is a great idea and I'll tell you why.

Firstly, the money is all fake, that's been proven a trillion times over this past few years.

So, if you have a guaranteed income, you could sit on your laurels or your ass and just watch teevee all day long. Or if you had a bit more gumption than that, you would now be free to actually do what you WANTED to, what you were good at, what fed your soul, what seemed to need to be done.

In Denmark, college students are paid a monthly stipend of about 1K to go to college and their tuition is free. Most end up ahead of the game with money in the bank when they finish, which goes a long ways towards making the next few years quite productive, rather than having the worry of a 50K nondischargeable loan hanging over their heads, like in our wonderful Darwinistic capitalistic system where suicides have almost doubled in the past 5 years.

People with talent could invent things, make art, literature, help the less fortunate; the list is endless. What we have now is the 1% making money out of nothing on Wall Street, and the 99% working at mostly pointless jobs that will soon be overtaken by robots in any event.

Meanwhile, the ocean is polluted with radiation and plastic, the climate is changing so fast it's going to become a threat to global survival, and yet the commercials still want you to buy plastic crap from China to keep the whole insane thing going.

Yeah, socialism is bad, alright. God Forbid everyone should be taken care of....

Oh, and OP; please read up on the difference between Marxism and Fascism. You seem a bit confused. Fascism is what we have now, careening down the street towards us. It's corporations running the government, and they aren't benevolent corporations; they buy and sell the politicians. Sound familiar?

Leftism is a faith-based brainwashing cult, take the famous Marxist Utopian the Rev. Jim Jones for example.

Slavery (absolute control) is always the goal of leftism, it was true in the old south (Enjoying the benefits of other peoples hard work) and it is still true today, in fact, it's even more the case. Absolute control is institutionalised, it's the establishment.

Will people wake up?

They are distracted by sports, celebrity worship and working twice as hard as ever to pay a bill. When they do tune into the news to get a grasp of what the problems could be, they are lied to openly by a compliant press who facilitate the goal of the very leftists who 'know' what's best for us.

The illusion is reinforced by persecuting thought criminals, prosecuting thought crime by ostracising them from the collective.

In other words, fascism.

Are people really this stupid?

BREAD and CIRCUS.

It leads to the death of liberty, the death of our constitutional republic.

Rome fell the same way, once the people understand they can elect their own "treats" from government its over.

We already have the debt, and foreign military boondoggles, all that will be needed if this continues, is a leader with the vision to seize the opportunity that we all have allowed to happen.

So, who is going to dig a ditch? Make the donuts? Mop the floors? Manufacture durable goods that support an economy?

How long would an economy based on marginal guitar players and underwater basket weavers support a majority of TV watching check cashers?

And that's why you have so many people rushing to Denmark ?

Giving everyone the same amount of money, would be the same as everyone having no money, because it will devalue the currency further, and increase inflation.

More entitlements to the entitlement generation. I would rather see people working for their money, and doing something productive.

This would be another way of making people dependent on their government rather than on themselves.

200,000,000 people
$2,000 each/month
equals
$400 billion/month X 12 months
equals
$4.8 Trillion per year newly printed money added to the national debt.
Zimbabwe, here we come.

I'm sure B.O. and MO also think this would be a good idea.

if you have a guaranteed income

guaranteed from what? last time I checked half of nothing is still nothing. Even after I carried the zero.

Then on another foot, if joe the plumber is making 30k usd a year and Tom, Dick and Harry are doing labor work for Joe at 20k usd a year. Will they say yall all get 20k sense yall are just plumbers? Why would Joe want to work or own a business? The American dream.

A better petition would be...

Eliminate all forms of currency and require 3 days a week of civil service until the age of 50.

All problems solved.

This is a great idea and I'll tell you why.

Firstly, the money is all fake, that's been proven a trillion times over this past few years.

Yes. True.

So, if you have a guaranteed income, you could sit on your laurels or your ass and just watch teevee all day long. Or if you had a bit more gumption than that, you would now be free to actually do what you WANTED to, what you were good at, what fed your soul, what seemed to need to be done.

What is to keep businesses from inflating their prices to offset the free income?

In Denmark, college students are paid a monthly stipend of about 1K to go to college and their tuition is free. Most end up ahead of the game with money in the bank when they finish, which goes a long ways towards making the next few years quite productive, rather than having the worry of a 50K nondischargeable loan hanging over their heads, like in our wonderful Darwinistic capitalistic system where suicides have almost doubled in the past 5 years.

Why should we be forced(with acts of violence) to pay taxes for an helping another person. It should be voluntary.

People with talent could invent things, make art, literature, help the less fortunate; the list is endless. What we have now is the 1% making money out of nothing on Wall Street, and the 99% working at mostly pointless jobs that will soon be overtaken by robots in any event.

People with talent do not get the right to force(with violence, theft and coercive strategies) others to give them free income. It should be voluntary

Meanwhile, the ocean is polluted with radiation and plastic, the climate is changing so fast it's going to become a threat to global survival, and yet the commercials still want you to buy plastic crap from China to keep the whole insane thing going.
The radiation was the result of a incompetent Japanese corporation, the climate is changing because of the sun cycle..not human activity on earth. Commercials are sponsored by corporations with the intent of you buying their product. If you keep buying their products they win not change.

Yeah, socialism is bad, alright. God Forbid everyone should be taken care of....

Statist coercive socialism is bad. People should not be taken care of with funds stolen from the rest of the people with force. It should be voluntarily given. Not at the point of a gun.

Oh, and OP; please read up on the difference between Marxism and Fascism. You seem a bit confused. Fascism is what we have now, careening down the street towards us. It's corporations running the government, and they aren't benevolent corporations; they buy and sell the politicians. Sound familiar?

Marxism does not allow for free market capitalism to exist. Fascism can still coexist with capitalism. Look at history. Did Marxist policy ever give abundance for the masses?

More, more, more is all you ever ask,

I grew up and worked in a country where jobs were easy to get and keep for anyone willing to work. A country where University education was affordable for those who worked part time jobs to pay for the education without loans.

The key concept for either path was a will to work for it. This was possible even into the nineties.

The jobs went away with off-shoring, unchecked immigration, taxation and regulation - promoted by both parties depending on the agendas.

The promotion of easy credit into the education system has had an inflationary supply/demand effect that has severely skewed what used to be affordable. This is liberal government policy combined with outright greed by the institutions.

Now promoting a guaranteed income based on fiat dollars to all will translate into hyper inflation for all with debased money chasing fewer goods. Meanwhile destroying the middle-class which used to be the economic powerhouse of this country.

We've had 30 plus years of progressive policy sneaked in the backdoor hand in hand with corporate greed and you ask for more, more and more.

A simple question, Have you seen an improvement in peoples lives over this timeframe or a decline in peoples lives in this timeframe? Especially the last five!

You rail against the rich but support policy that would only serve them very well as they continue to ride the back of social policy I call progressive, one that makes an entrenched elite that claims to know best for everyone while stomping all over what this country was founded upon,

Freedom and Individualism based upon a Constitutional Republic. One where I could truthfully tell my children "you can be anything you want" a statement I cannot truthfully make today.

That's progressive, thanks - all according to their needs, all according to their ability, right!

Because there are people out there who actually think there is merit to inane ideas like this and want everybody's income or resources to pull it off.

Its the principle that they think you or I work and because we have found some modest or slight success at it, they deserve to tell us we have to give it away at the point of a government gun or we're bad people who are selfish.

"They" never have a problem spending others money as "they" see fit.

So you equate poor people with a "parasitic bunch of scumbags"? Holy hell, brother. That's harsh even by my standards. I think the net increase in happiness would be a win, and maybe the "decent and hardworking people" wouldn't have to work quite so hard and could actually enjoy their lives a little. But I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

That's your vision of the ideal human life? Working for money and doing something "productive"? Productive of what? Pointless garbage that nobody needs? A new yacht for the CEO? Arthritis and a bad back? Man, I feel for you. How about a vision of people finding fulfillment in life without having to worry about being out on the street with their kids and no food and no money?
