Rarely do I post in those threads, I do read them and have learned a lot from them but it's a rare occasion that I'll actually post in them.

I don't come to ATS everyday for self induced stress, if I want that I can always post on Facebook.

I enjoy posting in all the other forums though, lots of other topics of interest!

I know exactly how you feel.

But you'll be back as soon as you discover that the gray aliens are governed by a socialist theocracy that appears to be at odds with the Bigfoot atheist monarchy, but the two are actually conspiring together to use fiat currency to rob the Loch Ness Monster's dimension of their naturally occurring Element 114 to fuel their time machine.

Little do they know that the Muslim Freemasons have already summoned an army of Jewish ghosts to trap the grays between dimensions when they activate the time machine.

Oops, I should have said "spoiler alert."

Awesome.

A time out is a good idea.

I'm taking one right now.

I would suggest that you take a break completely from ATS, logging in that is for a short period.

I took a month off ATS at one point. I lurked a little but didn't log in. It was a much needed break and allowed me to re-orient myself. I like talking about religion but mostly politics but when I first joined I could get all spun up over silliness and seemed headed for the Ban wagon.

After my self imposed exile, I found I didn't post as much anymore with vitriol. I'll probably be taking a month off again soon. It helps.

Where is he... oO

I never left

I'm just going to avoid getting involved in all of the political and religion related threads for a while. There's a lot more content on ATS that doesn't require a set of venomous fangs to participate, as I'm hanging mine up for the foreseeable future.

Start a thread with that premise, and I'll be there! Lol!

Religion and politics, pretty much the same thing for 2000 years. I wonder what happens when one of those becomes an anachronism. See, people are full of shiite much of the time, it's not necessarily their fault, it is institutional brainwashing, which is also full of shiite. In the UK we have our current PM giving tax breaks to married couples, (an oldish custom done away years ago by politics) so a nod back to what is a religious custom of some kind or the other. On the other hand our national air carrier BA, forbids cabin staff from wearing a Crucifix in their dress.
Obama does much the same, it's not his fault, it's custom, a White House speech ends with "God bless America" Which God are we/he/them/us talking about? nobody knows do they? By definition to individuals, there is only one God, to redefine that to more than one God, then we/he/them and us are well and truly fecked.

Perhaps it is time for me to do the same too.
Maybe I'll just call it a short sabbatical, or an extended leave.
Either way, it is what it is.

Regardless, wishing all the best to you.

I haven't been around here long enough to be able to have much to say about things said here, but I know that when watching the news (which seems mostly political) I can only take so much before it starts to affect me too much, so I have to take brakes from watching the news sometimes. I'll go weeks or months completely avoiding it unless there's a big story.

Upside is that I'm happier when I do that
Downside is that I'm not very well informed on anything going on.

It is odd the way ATS can almost be like a bad marriage where you feel like if you have an opinion about anything it will start an unwarranted and unwanted fight.

The idea of "agreeing to disagree" is all but gone which leaves me to think that "live and let live" is soon to follow.

It's all good Professor, I know exactly how you feel and am just coming back myself from a long ATS vacation. It's only natural to feel the need to remove ones self from stress and/or take vacations to take part in other interests. My last vacation I spent a lot of my free time playing and modding skyrim for example. When you choose to re-enter those arena's (politics and religion) they will be there for you....waiting. Enjoy your vacation and hope to see ya back soon.

I always avoid those threads. I even have them deleted from the recent threads feed. Both topics make my blood boil lol

Sometime I get into a political thread by accident and then wonder WHY I even went there to begin with!!

Read this thread:
Post a funny pic part 2
It might make you feel slightly better and laugh a little
