Your missing what I'm saying, I not talking about the emotion I experienced as a result of watching it. I'm talking about the emotion that was displayed by the characters as a result of the writers attempt to paint a genuine picture, draw the parallels, it's pretty odd. reply to post by Bilk22
[/quoteMy post was a response to Mrspad. He seems to think that fictional TV evokes more emotions than real life drama. Kind of a sad thought. No? Personally I think your observations in your OP were spot on.
However TPTB know that TV reality and RL are one and the same for many, nay, most people. It's how they spread their propaganda.

Your missing the point. There was more emotion displayed in that fictional example than the real life.

So, seeing a child's life, heck multiple children's lives being snuffed out somehow is less of an emotional experience in real life vs that of viewing it on TV? Really?
MrSpad
The writer wants to give us a scene that strike an emotional chord. Realism has nothing to do with it. This holds true most entertainment.

My friend I hate to tell you...I live by Newtown/Sandy Hook 2 of my friends lost their kids and another lost his wife. Then their are the first responders, as I am one.
Many cops ,Vol. Firefighters and EMS have not returned to wherever they work...2 of them are my friends!
They are mentally screwed up for what they saw....they told me first hand what they saw .
I have seen a lot of crap and death, including working at 9/11...but that was nothing compared to this.
After hearing one story I ran to the toilet and threw up and like I said in my 40 years of being a Vl. Firefighter I have a lot nothing like that.
So that's the way it is.

Are you talking about last week's premier? I do not recall a school shooting incident. Are you referring to tonights episode?
ETA:
Oh it was last season's finale. I will have to rewatch it, my recollection is a bit fuzzy.
Found this though:
The horrifying scene is said to be the start of a story arch that demonstrates the impact of gun trafficking. In a recent YouTube video, “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter further justified the scene as part of the “bigger objective” of reinvigorating conversation about shootings like the one depicted.
“Sons of Anarchy” is not the first television show to grapple with the issue. Less than four months after the Sandy Hook massacre,
