to equate our leaders and prisons with their leaders and prisons,
but
we are talking about a part of the world where

if we try to irrigate the desert and make it green they will shoot us
if we look at their girlfriend they will stab us
if we say the name Jesus they will hang us
and if we say "no secret executions" they will call us naïve

You really think we are loosing on a moral level, somehow?

I think this is a sign of suffering from enlightened projection.
Because a person views themselves and their own culture as enlightened,
they project the same level of reasonableness onto other cultures.

If your going to demand a wrongfully imprisoned person who is likley being totured to be released then you should look at your own house too and release some of the wrongfully imprisoned people your holding and being totured.

I agree, Gitmo is a much better place than Iranian prisons. At least Gitmo prisoners get to be force fed and commit suicide due to unprovable incriminate detention and no hope of a trial. Just think, with the new National Defense Act, any American can be indefinitely incarcerated without a trial on the accusation of being a terrorist. If the Iranians could only be like us.
