Of course children have the right to make their own decisions. They need guidance and that should not involved being forced to eat things. I was forced to eat certain foods as a child it done me no good. I never touched those foods for years afterwards...

So.....the parents of the little girl that decided it was fun to run into the street, and make drivers slam on the brakes to avoid hitting her was able to make her own decisions?

The kids that set their homes on fire playing with matches, too?

How about the kids that decide to beat up other kids?

I mean, you can guide them, but it's their decision in the end, right?

How about the kids that decide to pull some really stupid stunt?

Kids that decide to stick metal objects into light sockets?

Kids that don't want to eat anything but dessert?

No one that thinks kids that young are capable of making decisions is capable or raising a child properly.
