The Thames burst it' s banks already, unfortunatelu
the barrier is to stop floods from the seaward
side. and is stopping the water from leaving. To
my mind a fleet of pumps this side pumping water
to the other would be bloody obvious.

Umm you forgot something Mate ?

We're safe thanks, about 20 miles north of it all, and up on the downs (if that makes sense), But Friday was mental on the way to work.
